Does the chicken need to be cooked?

When you are ready to begin making these Santa Fe Wraps, you definitely need to make sure the chicken is completely cooked before you are using it in the wraps.

The chicken will not be cooked for long enough inside the wraps for them to get to the safe temperature for raw chicken.

So, you can either cook the chicken on the stovetop, in the air fryer, in the Instant Pot, or even just buy a rotisserie chicken and use that!

Then follow the helpful instructions in my other blog to see how to shred chicken fast!

Do I need to use boom boom sauce?

If you have never tried boom boom sauce, I would recommend at least trying it! Our homemade recipe for it is absolutely delicious, and of course super simple to throw together.

However, if you are not a fan here are a few other options to use for a dipping sauce:

  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Queso
  • BBQ sauce
  • Ranch

Can these be frozen?

If you have leftovers these are great even after frozen. Once you have fully cooled, you can freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.

When ready to cook, remove from freezer, place in the air fryer basket, and air fry at 380 degrees F or 193 degrees C for 6-8 minutes, flipping the wraps halfway until warmed through to your liking.

How to Make Egg Roll Santa Fe Wraps with Boom Boom Sauce:

Step 1: Combine the Santa Fe mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, black beans, corn, cheese, and taco seasoning.

Mix everything together until it is coated in the taco seasoning.

Step 2: Build the wraps

Once the chicken mixture is made up, scoop approximately a third of a cup of the mixture onto the center of the spring roll wrapper. Then, spread out the mixture to form a small rectangle that stops about an inch and a half away from the left and right edges.

Now, using a pastry brush, apply the egg wash across the top of the wrapper.

Then, fold over the left and right sides of the wrapper and then roll from the bottom towards the top, allowing the egg wash to seal the roll.

Step 3: Cook the Santa Fe Wraps

After you have the wraps made up, place them in the air fryer basket and cook at 380 degrees F or 193 degrees C for 6 minutes.

Flip the wraps at the halfway point and add more time as needed until the egg rolls are cooked and crispy to your liking.

Step 4: Make the boom boom sauce

Mix up the boom boom sauce by combining all the ingredients into a small mixing bowl, mixing it all together until it is well combined.

Enjoy your crispy wraps with boom boom sauce, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, BBQ sauce, or ranch!
