Another great recipe has gone viral on Tiktok and we have the best version of it for you to try. There is no need to overthink this one, it is simple to make and is absolutely divine! 

What is nice is that if you love spice, this recipe is definitely for you! Or if you are not a huge fan of spice, that’s okay, you can tone it down to your liking with a simple adjustment of the measurements of the spices. Simple Ingredients Needed for This Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken Dinner Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Chicken breasts
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Butter, cubed
  • Garlic, minced
  • Hot sauce or sriracha
  • Honey

Supplies:

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Small mixing bowl

I use my Cosori 5.8QT air fryer when I am cooking with an air fryer because it is such a great product. It helps cook my food evenly and makes cleaning up a breeze since the basket is dishwasher-safe. 

 

Is it Necessary to Slice the Chicken?

I don’t know that I would say it is 100% necessary to slice the chicken, except for maybe for the chicken to be able to hold the butter in the recipe. I suppose you could lay the butter on top of the chicken, but I do think that slicing the chicken is the better option. 

Do I Need to Use All the Spices?

While the spices are where a lot of the flavor comes from for this Tiktok dish, I would say definitely try and use all of the spices. But, you might not need to use the exact measurements, that is where you can make this recipe suit you and your family. 

 

How to Make Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken in the Air Fryer:

Step 1: Score the Chicken

This means taking the chicken breast and cutting along the top of the chicken on a diagonal all the way down the chicken and then doing it again in the other direction to create a cube look on the chicken. 

 

But, be sure to not cut all the way through the chicken to keep it all intact. 

Step 2: Season the Chicken

Now, in a small mixing bowl combine the salt, pepper, cajun seasoning, paprika, and garlic powder and mix it all together. 

Then sprinkle the seasoning mixture over top of the chicken breast and then massage the seasonings into the chicken to create a dry rub. 

NOTE: If you need to cut back on spice, I would suggest using only 1 tsp of paprika and cajun seasoning.

 

Step 3: Add in the Butter

After the chicken has been seasoned, put the butter into cubes and place it into the scored slices of the chicken, making sure to stick it down in there good.

 

Step 4: Bake the Chicken

Once the chicken has been prepped, place it in the air fryer basket and cook it at 390F or 198C for 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165F or 71C to ensure it is cooked all over the way through. 

 

Step 5: Create the Glaze

Now it is time to create the delicious glaze for the chicken. You will start by combining the melted butter, minced garlic, hot sauce (or sriracha), and honey together until they are well combined. 

Then simply pour it over top of the chicken or use a pastry brush and brush it on the cooked chicken, making sure to cover the chicken well! Then simply serve and enjoy!

 

Bonus!

If you have room in your air fryer, throw in some fresh or frozen veggies while the chicken cooks for the last 8-10 minutes.

I would say that this TikTok recipe was worth making 100%. It might not be the most healthy recipe (hello all the butter for 2 chicken breasts), but it this recipe is fantastic. Plus it is okay to splurge on some amazing food.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 Chicken breasts
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 4 tbsp Butter, cubed

Glaze Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ tbsp Hot sauce or Sriracha
  • 1 ½ tbsp Honey

Instructions

  • Score two breasts of chicken diagonally into cubes (but still keeping the entire chicken breast intact.
  • In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Liberally season the chicken breasts with the seasoning mixture. You don't have to do all of the seasonings. The amount of seasoning you end up using depends on personal preference and the size of your chicken breasts.
  • Massage the seasonings into the chicken breasts.
  • Cube 4 tbsp of butter and place into the scored chicken breasts.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket and cook at 390 °F for 15-20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165 °F.
  • Make a glaze for chicken by combining the glaze ingredients. Add the glaze to the top of the cooked chicken and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

You can also serve with broccoli or other favorite veggie of your choice. If there is room in your air fryer basket, you can cook the veggies with the chicken while it cooks. Frozen veggies take anywhere for 8-10 minutes, so add the veggie during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
