Does the chicken need to marinate?
To get the best flavor out of this recipe it is ideal for the chicken to marinate for at least 15 minutes at the bare minimum. But, the best results would come from letting the chicken sit overnight.
However, if you can’t let the chicken marinate, at least make sure the chicken is coated in the marinade before you begin cooking to get some flavor.
What type of chicken to use for this easy dinner recipe
When we made this recipe we used chicken breast cut into strips, but that is not the only way to make this recipe.
If you choose, you can always make this with chicken wings, chicken tenders, or even chicken thighs! They will all turn out great.
How to Make Air Fryer Chicken and Asparagus Dinner:
Step 1: Make the marinade
Start by mixing together all of the marinade ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
Then prepare the chicken breasts by slicing them into about 1-inch thick strips.
Now, mix half of the marinade with the chicken strips in a medium bowl and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 15 minutes or as long as overnight.
Next, mix together all of the seasoning ingredients in a small bowl and set it aside.
Step 2: Prepare the asparagus and chicken
Once the chicken is done marinating, place the asparagus on one side of the air fryer basket and the chicken on the other side.
If you aren’t able to do all the asparagus at the same time, then cook it in batches to make sure it is cooked evenly.
After the asparagus and chicken are in the air fryer basket, sprinkle the seasoning blend on top of the chicken and the asparagus and then spray them with oil.
Step 3: Cook dinner
When everything is ready in the basket, air fry it all for 8-10 minutes at 380 degrees F or 193 degrees C, flipping the chicken at the halfway point, or until the chicken reaches an internal temp of 165 degrees F or 74 degrees C.
Then, simply remove the chicken and asparagus from the air fryer basket, serve with rice, top with the other half of the marinade, parsley, lemon wedge, or lemon juice, and enjoy!
Other side options
If asparagus really isn’t your favorite vegetable, thats okay! There are plenty more options of sides to make in the air fryer that will go well with this juicy marinated chicken.
