On April 22, we celebrate Earth Day to commemorate the launch of the modern environmental movement. Here are some ways to celebrate Earth Day – and take care of the planet everyday!
SAVE ENERGY
Turn off the lights and unplug electronics when not in use and try switching to Solar Lights or LED lights. Invest in energy efficient electronics, Smart Devices, and Smart Appliances that allow for automated control and optimal efficiency. Use items such as insulators, blackout curtains and draft stoppers to keep the heat – or the cold – in. By doing these, you not only help save the planet but save money, too!

DO A CLEAN-UP
Do your spring cleaning and see which items you can donate, reuse for crafts and home projects, or dispose for recycling. Donate Gently Used Clothes and Household Supplies with Give Back Box. For gadgets beyond repair, here’s How To Recycle Old Electronics.
Volunteer to do clean-ups for an environmental group or in your neighborhood. Alternately, you may want to celebrate Earth Day in a forest or at the beach – you can do your clean-up there!
Don’t forget to bring garbage bags, gloves, and a grabber tool if needed. You’ll want to wear sunscreen and wide-brimmed hat to prevent sunburn.
PLANT
Plant a tree, plant flowers, or care for your garden. Trees give off oxygen, help mitigate climate change, and serve as shelter for birds and other animals. Flowers, on the other hand, provide food for bees, some birds, and other pollinators. USE A WATER BOTTLE!
Plastic PET bottles are a huge environmental problem as they take up landfills, clog waterways, pollute oceans, and take over 400 years to decompose (Some plastics even take 1,000 years)! By bringing your own water bottle, you can hydrate whenever and wherever you need to, save on bottled water, and do good for the environment.
