Things to serve with Taco Monkey Bread

This is such a great way to make a taco dish without doing the traditional tacos with a tortilla. After it bakes you can choose to pair it with whatever you like.

Here are a few options:

  • Diced tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa
  • Guacamole
  • Queso

Can I use tortillas

For this recipe, you will need to make it with biscuits. The point is for them to grow together, but tortillas will just get browned and crispy and will not have the same effect.

How to Make Taco Monkey Bread:

Step 1: Brown the beef

Using a large skillet, place the ground beef in the skillet, cooking it until it is browned. Then add in the taco seasoning with water and let it cook through until it thickens up.

Once that is done, stir in the salsa to season the meat even more.

Step 2: Prepare the biscuits

After the taco meat is done, cut the biscuits in half, smooshing them slightly, and then place a spoonful of taco meat and a sprinkle of cheese.

Then take the other of the biscuit and place it on top using your hands to seal the edges and form the stuffed biscuit into a ball.

Continue these steps with all of the biscuits.

Step 3: Fill the bundt pan

When you have the biscuits filled, place them into the greased bundt pan until the pan is filled.

Then sprinkle more cheese on top of the rolled biscuits.

Be sure if you are using a cake pan instead of a bundt pan to place another small glass bowl or ramekin in the center otherwise this will take a while to cook through.

Step 4: Bake the Monkey Bread

Now that the bundt pan is filled and topped with cheese, place the pan in the air fryer basket.

Bake the taco dinner at 350 degrees F or 176 degrees C, cooking it for 15 minutes.

Check the Taco Monkey Bread after 15 minutes and if the top is beginning to brown cover the pan with aluminum foil and return the pan bake to the air fryer for another 10-15 minutes or until the rolls are cooked through.

They should be about 165 degrees F or 74 degrees C.

Then simply remove the pan from the air fryer and serve it with any and all the toppings you like!

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Kitchen scissors
  • Bundt pan or cake pan with small circular dish

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Brown the ground beef. Add the taco seasoning and some water and let it sizzle. Stir in the salsa. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Cut the biscuit in half (either lengthwise or widthwise) and place a spoonful of meat in the center of one of the halves.
  • Top with cheese and take the other half and place it on top to form into a small ball.
  • Place into a greased bundt pan, cake pan, or other circular dish that fits in the air fryer basket. If you are using a cake pan, you can use a ramekin dish in the center and fill the taco bites around it.
  • Repeat with remaining biscuits and place the balls next each other in the air fryer dish, place shredded cheese in between each of the rolls as you place them.
  • Repeat until pan is full, but leave the middle portion open if you are using a cake pan. (Placing a roll in the middle makes it take a lot longer to cook and the outside edges start to burn).
  • Preheat the air fryer. Place the dish in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook at 350 °F for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, add foil to the top of the dish if you are worried about the tops burning.
  • Cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the rolls are cooked through. Internal temp is typically around 165 °F when it is done.
