What is pork tenderloin?
Make sure you have the right cut of pork. Pork tenderloin is like the filet mignon of pork! So tender and juicy, if cooked right. It is a long, narrow, boneless cut of lean pork that comes from the muscle that runs along the backbone. Pork loin is not the same, so look for the actual word “tenderloin” on the package.
Pork tenderloin is usually sold in a package with two tenderloins inside. Each tenderloin is usually about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds.
P.S. You can use pork loin to make pork chops in the air fryer too!
Simple Balsamic Marinade Ingredients
Mix up the super simple marinade right in the bag. The ingredients and prep work are easy. You probably already have them on hand –
- Balsamic vinegar
- Soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
- Lemon juice
- Brown sugar
- Black pepper
- Kosher salt
- Dried rosemary
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
How long to marinate pork tenderloin?
Add all the ingredients in a Ziploc bag or bowl. Shake the bag to mix (or whisk to combine). Then add the tenderloin to the marinade mixture and roll it up so it can sit in the marinade for at least 30 minutes.
Pro Tip: The longer you marinate, the better the taste and flavor of the tenderloin. So you can let it marinate for as long as overnight, if possible. I like to let this one marinate for a few hours.
What temperature do you cook a pork tenderloin in the air fryer?
Pork tenderloin cooks better at a quick, high temperature. So, to make air fryer pork tenderloin, you will want to cook it at 400˚F or 200˚C.
To help the pork tenderloin cook faster, make sure to preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400˚F or 200˚C.
How long should I cook a pork tenderloin in an air fryer?
Pork tenderloin doesn’t take long to cook, especially in the condensed heat of the air fryer. It only takes about 20 minutes at 400˚F/200˚C. But before you press the start button on your air fryer, there are a couple of things you should know.
Tip 1. Use Parchment Paper
Cooking a marinated pork tenderloin in the air fryer can get a little messy, so I like to use a piece of air fryer parchment paper in the air fryer basket to help make cleanup a little easier. If you don’t use the parchment paper, use an oil spray or brush the basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
Tip 2. Fold the ends
Be sure to fold the smaller, thinner ends of the pork tenderloin into itself so that they don’t dry out during the cooking process.
Tip 3. Flip halfway through
Like all air fryer cooking, be sure to flip the tenderloin halfway through cooking time to ensure that the tenderloin is evenly cooked and juicy. So, cook the tenderloin for 10 minutes on each side.
What temp should I cook pork tenderloin to?
Pork tenderloin is done once it reaches the internal temperature of 145°F or 63°C. This brings me to my last tip for air frying perfect pork tenderloin
Tip 4. Use an instant read meat thermometer
Get out your instant read meat thermometer! An instant read food thermometer will help you know exactly when your pork tenderloin is done cooking! Pork tenderloin is safe to eat once it reaches the internal temperature of 145°F or 63°C.
Air Fryer Pro Tip: Cooking time will vary depending on your air fryer and the size of the tenderloin, but it usually takes only 15-20 minutes of cooking time! Plan on letting it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
