Air Fryer Scones

A little crunchy on the outside and a sweet and tender inside, these Air Fryer Scones are simple to make up and filled with delicious buttery flavor.

Enjoy this delicious recipe that was submitted by one of my YouTube viewers, Harriet! She loves to make the dough, freeze it, and pull out individual wedges as needed! 🙂

If you’re not sure what scones are, scones are like biscuits, cookies, and muffins type texture all wrapped into one deliciously golden brown pastry.

With no eggs, these savory scones are even perfect for those with specific diet restrictions while still enjoying a little treat and can be made faster in the air fryer than in an oven.

What to serve with scones

Depending on how you like your pastries, scones can be a little on the dryer side, but that also depends on the type of scones you are using. However, if you want to avoid having a drier scone here are some could serving suggestions:

  1. Glaze: pour a thin vanilla glaze over top of the scones to add a little flavor and moisture
  2. Clotted cream: this is more of a European delicacy and is more of a butter equivalent, but can be served on a warm scone
  3. Jam: use your favorite jam to serve on the side to spread on the scones
  4. Brush butter: After the scones have come out of the hot air fryer, brush some melted butter over the top of the scones

How to freeze scones

There is a freezer option (before air frying) for these scones.

Before air frying the scone dough, place the discs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place it in the freezer.

Once they are hard, break them apart and store them in a freezer-safe bag.

Now, you can enjoy a freshly baked scone whenever you want. Just air fry at the frozen scone at 380 degrees F 193 degrees C for 6-7 minutes.

How to store scones

After the air fryer has been made and cooled down to room temperature, place them in an airtight container and store them in a cool dry area.

Flavor variations

Scones are so versatile and really can be made into whatever type you want. Plus you can treat this recipe as a base and use it to add whatever flavors you love to the scone batter. Pick one or more of these add-ins to create your favorite scone combination ( I love lemon-blueberry scones):

  • Blueberries
  • Lemon (lemon zest)
  • Vanilla extract
  • Cranberries
  • Chocolate chips
  • Cranberry orange
  • Chocolate

Scones are great breakfast pastries, but they are not the only thing that you can make in the air fryer for breakfast. Here are a few of my favorites that are fun and delicious!

Comments & Reviews

  • Hi,

What does the capital ‘T’ mean in the recipe? Is it teaspoon or tablespoon? If it’s tablespoon, 1T of baking powder and 3-5T of sugar seems a lot.

    Please can you clarify?

    Kind regards Maggie
