Ooey-Gooey Peanut Butter Cup S’mores Dip
Updated September 12, 2025
If you love classic campfire s’mores but want something easy, shareable, and way more mess-free, this peanut butter cup s’mores dip is your new best friend. Melty chocolate, creamy peanut butter, and toasty marshmallows… all done in minutes in your air fryer, no campfire needed! Prefer to use the oven? I’ve included oven directions too.
Confession: We are s’mores superfans. As a former Girl Scout and the mom of a current Girl Scout, we have these every time we go to camp! We make traditional air fryer s’mores on repeat, I adore s’mores cookie cups (aka smookies), cookie bars, and even this s’mores ice cream cake. But for parties and family movie nights, a warm, ooey gooey, dunkable dip is THE vibe—it’s crowd-pleasing, quick, and so fun to scoop and eat. The marshmallow pull is fantastic!
Can I make s’mores dip in the air fryer?
Yes! If you’ve seen my viral air fryer video on YouTube, you already know how quick and delicious this is. Today we’re taking that idea up a notch with peanut butter cups for the ultimate sweet-salty, melty combo.

Ingredients & Supplies
Ingredients
- Mini Reese’s peanut butter cups
- Marshmallows
- Graham crackers (plus extras for dipping)
Supplies
- Air fryer
- Cake barrel (I use a 7-inch for my 5.8-qt Cosori) or any oven-safe dish that fits your basket
- Parchment paper (for easy cleanup)
Smart Substitutions & Flavor Variations
- No PB cups? Use peanut butter chips, or half PB chips + half semi-sweet/milk chocolate chips.
- Chocolate swaps: Milk, dark, or white chocolate chips; caramel chips; butterscotch; chopped bars; Andes mints for a minty twist.
- Nutella swirl: Dollop 2–3 tbsp Nutella over the chocolate base before adding marshmallows.
- Salty finish: A pinch of flaky sea salt after cooking makes the flavors pop.
- Marshmallows: Mini or large both work. Cut large in halves for more coverage.
- Gluten-free: Use GF graham crackers or serve with sliced apples and pretzel crisps (GF).
- Holiday vibes: Red/green M&M’s for Christmas, pastel mini marshmallows for spring, heart sprinkles for Valentine’s.
How to Make S’mores Dip (Step-by-Step)
Before we start: every air fryer runs a little different in size and wattage, so treat times as a guide and watch for golden-brown marshmallows.
Step 1: Add the peanut butter cups
Line your cake barrel (or oven-safe dish) with parchment. Add a generous layer of peanut butter cups. You can also mix in milk chocolate chips for extra chocolatey goodness.
Step 2: Add the marshmallows
Top with marshmallows (mini or large). Pack them in for that pillowy, toasty layer.
Step 3: Add the toppings
Crush a few graham crackers and sprinkle on top. Optional: an extra handful of PB chips or chocolate chips.
Step 4: Air Fry — Time & Temp
Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 4–6 minutes, or until the marshmallows are deeply golden and the chocolate is melty. Start checking at 4 minutes.
Oven Directions
No air fryer? Easy.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
- Line an oven-safe 7–8″ dish or small skillet with parchment (optional for easy cleanup).
- Layer peanut butter cups on the bottom, then marshmallows on top. Add crushed grahams if desired.
- Bake on the middle rack for 6–10 minutes, watching closely the last few minutes. Pull when marshmallows are deeply golden and the chocolate is melted.
- Cool 1–2 minutes (the center is very hot), then serve warm.
Tip: For extra even browning, switch to Broil for the final 15–30 seconds—watch like a hawk.
Air Fryer vs. Oven: Which Should You Use?
- Air Fryer: Fastest preheat, super toasty marshmallow tops, perfect for small batches and last-minute dessert cravings.
- Oven: Best for larger servings or when your AF dish doesn’t fit; more even heat for bigger pans.
- Bottom line: Use the air fryer for speed and caramelized tops; use the oven for volume.
Serving & Dipping Ideas
Graham cracker squares are classic, but try these too:
- Strawberries & raspberries: Bright, juicy, and fresh with the rich dip.
- Pretzels: Salty crunch = chef’s kiss with sweet marshmallow.
- Oreos or chocolate chip cookies: Double-cookie dunk for the win.
- Apple slices: Tart + crisp + caramel vibes if you add a drizzle.
- Rice Krispies treats: Soft, nostalgic, and surprisingly sturdy dippers.
- Gluten-free crackers: Keep dessert inclusive and delicious.
Pro Tips + Troubleshooting
- Too pale on top? Add 15–30 seconds (air fryer) or a quick broil (oven). Don’t walk away.
- Chocolate not melting? Your base layer may be thick or the dish too deep. Lower temp to 325°F after browning and cook 1–2 more minutes.
- Marshmallows scorching? Tent lightly with foil for the last minute or reduce temp by 15–25°F.
- Sticky cleanup? Always line with parchment; lift and serve right on a heat-safe board.
- Serving a crowd? Make two smaller dishes instead of one deep one for even melt.
- Kid helpers: Let them layer candies and marshmallows; adults handle the hot parts.
Make-Ahead, Storage & Reheat
- Make-ahead: Assemble up to the marshmallow layer, cover, and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Cook just before serving.
- Leftovers: Cool fully, cover, and refrigerate up to 2 days.
- Reheat: Air fryer 300°F for 2–3 minutes, or oven 325°F for 5–7 minutes until melty.
- Scaling: This feeds about 4–6 as a dessert dip. Double in two pans for parties.
