We love to use the air fryer to make salmon, fish, and other seafoods because it is so incredibly quick and easy. The air fryer is a great way to cook salmon because it comes out perfectly flakey, tender, and cooked.
The Very Best Air Fryer Parmesan Crusted Salmon
Today, I am excited to share with you some tips and tricks for cooking salmon in the air fryer. You will be surprised when preparing and cooking this recipe just how simple it really is to make salmon in the air fryer.
Ingredients
To make the very best parmesan crusted salmon, you will only need 4 ingredients:
- 2 salmon fillets
- ¼ c mayonnaise
- 1 tsp herb and garlic seasoning
- Shredded parmesan cheese, to taste
How to make salmon taste good?
I love this parmesan flavored salmon because it adds such a nice flavor to the salmon. And because you cook it in the air fryer, the parmesan nicely cooks onto the salmon for a crunchy and flavorful added texture.
To make the parmesan topping, first mix together the mayonnaise with the herb and garlic seasoning.
Tips for cooking salmon in the air fryer
Here are a few things you’ll want to know when cooking salmon in the air fryer.
Tip #1: Pat the salmon dry
You will want to make sure the salmon is dry so that it cooks better and faster in the air fryer. I like to use a paper towel to pat the salmon dry.
Tip #2: Place the salmon on a foil sling
You can place the salmon on a foil sling to make it easier to remove the salmon from the air fryer. This is optional, but I feel like it makes removing the salmon from the air fryer basket so much easier, especially if the air fryer basket it hot and the salmon is perfectly flakey.
What is a foil sling?
A foil sling makes it easy to remove food from the air fryer basket. Foil slings are usually smaller than the length of the air fryer basket, and a little longer the width. Take the extra width and foil down so that it is inside the air fryer basket. This makes nice handles so you can easily remove the foil and whatever is on top of it outside of the air fryer basket.
How do I make food not stick to the air fryer basket?
Like I mentioned, a foil sling is optional. If you choose to not use a foil sling, I recommend lightly spraying the air fryer basket with a cooking spray like avocado oil so that the salmon doesn’t stick to the inside of the air fryer basket.
What temperature to cook salmon in the air fryer?
Place the salmon, skin side down, in the air fryer basket and spread the mayonnaise and herb mixture on top of the salmon. Top with parmesan cheese to your liking.
Next, cook the salmon in the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius for 8 minutes. You do not need to flip the salmon.
What is the internal temperature of salmon?
If you do not own an instant read meat thermometer then you will want to purchase one so that you can have the best results! An instant read thermometer will help you know the internal temperature of your salmon and when it is done cooking. A salmon is fully cooked once the instant read thermometer reads 145 degrees Fahrenheit or 62.7 degrees Celsius when inserted in the thickest part of the salmon.
Why do I need an instant read meat thermometer?
Because all air fryer makes and models are different, it is so important to use an instant read food thermometer because it will help you know how may need to adjust the temp and time on your air fryer so that you don’t overcook or undercook your food.
