Effortless Air Fryer Hamburgers in Minutes!
Tasty Air Fryer Hamburgers
You can enjoy hamburgers anytime of the year thanks to the air fryer and this trouble-free air fryer hamburger recipe. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you can have up to 4 burgers ready in under 20 minutes! This is the perfect dinner for busy nights that everyone will enjoy and love!
How to Make Hamburgers in the Air Fryer
This recipe is crazy simple. First, preheat the air fryer at 400˚F for 5 minutes, then place frozen patties in the air fryer basket so they don’t overlap. Cook at 370˚F for 7-10 minutes. Flip burgers and cook for an additional 6-7 minutes at 370˚F. And there you have it- juicy air fryer burgers!
Like all air fryer recipes, cooking time varies depending on the make and model of your air fryer. And with burgers, it also depends on how cooked through you’d like your burgers to be. So, it’s important to check on your patties at about the first 7 minute mark.
Add Sautéed Onions
If you love onions on your burgers, then you will want to sauté some onions in the air fryer too! This is super easy to do luckily!
Before you flip your burgers and cook them for an additional 6-7 minutes, first lightly spray the onions and sprinkle them with salt. Then spread them on the burgers in the air fryer basket and let them cook with the patties for the last 6-7 minutes.
Make it a Cheeseburger
If you love cheeseburgers, then you are in luck! All you need to do is add sliced cheese to your patties for the last minute or two of cooking (or until the cheese melts as you desire). The cheese should stay on the burger, but if you worried it will fly off, keep it together with a toothpick.
Toasted Hamburger Buns
I personally love to toast my hamburger buns, but not all my kids like it. If you like toasted hamburger buns, all you have to do is wipe down the air fryer basket with a paper towel to get rid of excess hamburger grease. Then place your buns inside and cook at 400˚F for 2-3 minutes.
Final Thoughts
There you have it! I love air fryer hamburgers because they are so adaptable and one of the best family dinners! You can easily personalize the burgers to fit each child’s needs. Plus, I love how perfectly juicy and crispy the air fryer cooks the patties! I hope you enjoy these air fryer burgers anytime of the year! Let me know how it goes for you below.

That hamburger looks extremely yummy. I just ordered a large basket style sir fryer from Amazon.U.K. – it has really good reviews- but no pre-heating function can I start a cooking process without food to pre-heat the air fryer or should I skip that altogether?
Thanks for replying
And another question: did you ever make stuffed baking apples in the air fryer?
Hi Heiki! Curious why you rated the recipe four stars? I’m assuming you haven’t tried it yet? As far as pre-heating goes, you can just set the temp/time and let it run empty for about 5 min at 400˚F. OR if you skip it, your first batch will just take a little longer to cook (should still turn out just fine though).
As far as the stuffed baking apples goes… I have not made those in the air fryer yet.
Cathy, where do I find the recipe for the spread you put on the hamburgers?

How long would you cook the patties if they are not frozen?
Hi Marilyn,
When I do fresh burgers 1/2″ thick, I cook at 360°F for 3 minutes, flip, cook 2 minutes more then add cheese and cook an additional minute. For 1/4″ thick, I would do 360° for 5 minutes, no flipping, and add cheese the last minute. Hope this helps!
Easiest/tastiest burgers I ever made. They came out perfect and the whole family loved them! 👍
Yay! That’s wonderful! Thanks for the review, Jen.
Sounds so very yummy!
My question is what temp and how long for Frozen Turkey burgers?
I am still keeping this recipe for when I make beef burgers.
many thanks!
Sheri
Hi Sheri! It should be the same amount of time! According to USDA.gov, turkey burgers should cook to an internal temp of 165˚.
Thank you so much! I just love turkey burgers! And nice to know I don’t have to thaw them!!! : )
