The Best Fried Rice in the Air Fryer
How to Make the Best Fried Rice in the Air Fryer
Today’s air fryer recipe is inspired from a famous TikTok recipe. A few weeks ago, with my friend Kristin from Six Sisters Stuff, we tried out 3 TikTok Recipes in the Air Fryer. And let me tell you, they were so good! I am excited to share with you how to make fried rice in the air fryer in less than 30 minutes!
What Rice Should I Use to Make Fried Rice in the Air Fryer?
The longest part of this recipe is the prep before cooking the ingredients in the air fryer. While you can use any rice to make fried rice in the air fryer, the best rice is long grained white rice. Additionally, it will cook and taste better if you make the rice the day before. This way, the rice will actually “fry” and taste so good!
How to Make Air Fryer Fried Rice
The ingredients you need to make fried rice in the air fryer are rather simple. Feel free to experiment and try your favorite fried rice ingredients. For this recipe, you will need:
- 2-3 cups rice, cooked (day old rice is best)
- 1 cup chicken, cooked and chopped
- 1 cup Asian frozen vegetables, thawed
- 3 eggs, scrambled
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 scallions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
How to Make Your Fried Rice More Flavorful
If you are someone who loves a lot of flavor, then I suggest adding two ingredients to this fried rice.
First, teriyaki sauce. Add, to your taste, teriyaki sauce to the chicken. Do this while you are cooking and preparing the chicken.
Second, fried rice seasoning mix. This will make your fried rice taste so much better and much more authentic. Add about 2 teaspoons of the seasoning when you combine everything together in the air fryer.
If you don’t have a fried rice seasoning mix, you can make your own by combining 1 teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon sugar.
Fried Rice in the Air Fryer Cooking Tips
Once you have all your ingredients prepped and ready, making the fried rice is really simple! You will first want the largest air fryer pan that you have. Typically this accessory comes in air fryer kits. If you don’t have one, you can also use a Pyrex dish or a similar glass bowl. You can also use a cake pan or anything that will fit inside your air fryer. The best dish however is own with a handle, so that it is easy to remove.
I also love and recommend using an air fryer silicone pot.
Place all the ingredients together in the air fryer pan, place in the air fryer basket and cook for 9 minutes at 380F/190C. Be sure to stir at the half way point, and make any cooking time adjustments as needed for your air fryer.
Carefully remove the pan from the air fryer basket and enjoy!
Final Thoughts
This air fryer recipe is a great one to meal prep ahead of time. Prepare your chicken at the beginning of the week and then use it for this meal and other air fryer chicken meals throughout the week. You can also prep the rice ahead of time and use it for multiple meals as well. Recipe Notes
You can replicate the fried rice seasoning with 1 teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon sugar.
It is NOT recommended to use glass pyrex dishes in the air fryer. Corning ware is okay. People get these mixed up and think they are the same but they are not.
As long as the dish is oven-safe, then it is safe for the air fryer.
