How to make dipping sauce or icing

Since of course, these pretzel bites are made even better with icing we have a great way to make homemade icing

Begin by adding the powdered confectioner’s sugar, whole milk, vanilla, and melted butter to a medium bowl. Whisk together until combined.

You may need to add more milk depending on your preferred consistency. Then just either put it in a bowl or drizzle it over top of the seasoned pretzel bites.

Can you make homemade self-rising flour?

Yes, you actually can! If you want to make this recipe without having to run to the store for self-rising flour, you can always make it yourself!

Add a Pinch has a great recipe that you can use to make your own homemade self-rising flour to use in this recipe.

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites:

Step 1: Make the pretzel dough

Start by putting the self-rising flour and plain, fat-free Greek yogurt in the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment.

Then mix everything together at a low speed until combined.

Then, knead at a medium speed for about 3 minutes until a ball forms. If the dough is too sticky, add more self-rising flour (or if you are using a homemade mix of self-rising flour, you can just add flour) a little at a time until it is no longer sticky.

Step 2: Extra prepping steps

Start boiling your water if you haven’t already, then preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Create the pretzel bite shapes

Next, turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Sprinkle the top with flour, knead a couple of times, and form the dough into a ball. Cut the dough ball into fourths.

Roll each piece of dough into a long rope. Cut each rope into about 12 small segments. (I first cut it in half, then half again, then cut each fourth into thirds).

Step 4: Prepare the raw pretzel dough

Now, dissolve the baking soda in boiling water. Dip the dough segments into the baking soda mixture. Place directly onto a lightly sprayed (with oil) air fryer basket.

Add as many pretzel bites as you can, but don’t overcrowd the basket.

Step 5: Cook the pretzel bites

Now, turn the air fry on at 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C and cook the pretzel dough for 5-6 min, or until the internal temp is 205 degrees F or 96 degrees C and lightly golden brown.

You will likely need to cook in 2 batches.

Step 6: Make cinnamon sugar mix

Mix the cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar together in a small mixing bowl.

Remove from the air fryer basket when it is cooked through, and then cook the second batch of pretzel bites.

Brush the pretzel bites with melted butter. Dip and cover the pretzels generously in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Then simply enjoy the pretzel bites with your homemade dipping sauce.
