Easy Peasy Homemade Pizza Crust Recipe

Last summer I figured out how to make grilled pizza.   It’s been a favorite in our home since!  Since then, I’ve been trying to find the perfect pizza crust recipe that would work nicely on the grill.  Last week my sister shared her super easy pizza dough recipe with me and guess what, it worked PERFECTLY!  It’s easy to handle (I didn’t even “knead” a rolling pin when making the personal sized crusts), and it tasted YUMMY!  Now I’m going to share it with you, as well as my newest pizza variation using leftovers!

Easy Homemade Pizza Crust Recipe

makes 1 pizza crust

1 tablespoon yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup warm water
Let it sit and “grow” (see side pic)

In your Kitchenaid place:
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups flour

Add yeast mixture and then mix until blended.

And another cup flour and knead.  Let dough rise for 30 min and then it’s ready!

To make Grilled Pizza with this delicious crust:

  1. Divide the crust into 4 balls and then flatten on a floured surface.
  2. Spread some olive oil on both sides of the crust to prepare for grilling (I like to throw in some garlic salt too)
  3. Place lightly oiled crust on grill on medium heat.
  4. Grill on one side until top has “blistered” and bottom is cooked (before it burns!).
  5. Flip the crust and place on low heat (the other side of the grill)
  6. Put toppings on the crust immediately (do cheese first so it has time to melt)
  7. When bottom of crust is done, pull it off and enjoy!
(For more detailed instructions, see my How To Grill Pizza post from 2011)

On this day I used some leftover chicken.  I diced it up and heated it up (I wasn’t sure that it would warm up on the grill enough).   I pulled out some alfredo sauce from my pantry and some mozzarella and fresh parmisean cheese from my freezer.  It was a tasty quick dinner!

Some people shared that they love to do this on their pizza stone:

  • I bought two 12″ UNglazed ceramic/stone tiles at Lowe’s for $4.69. I laid them side-by-side on my gas grill, and can cook two pizzas as once. PERFECTION! This was a super cheap solution, instead of buying an expensive stone.

  • Grilled pizza is the absolute BEST!! This one looks so yummy!! TFS
