Easy Cheesy Crab Dip Recipe
Cheesy imitation Crab Dip Recipe
I’m usually not a big fan of anything with Velveeta, but I really love this dip. There’s enough sour cream, crab, and other yummy things in there that it doesn’t taste too Velveeta-y.
My Aunt hosts family gatherings often and this dip has been present many a time. It actually took me several parties before I would even try it because of the Velveeta factor. But once I did, I knew it was a recipe worth keeping and sharing. No wonder she keeps making it!
Of course, my husband loved this dip from the start. What is it with guys and Velveeta? This dip is now a family favorite and we make it whenever we can come up with a reason to. Holiday parties and New Year’s Eve are perfect occasions!
Ingredients
It works well to use imitation crab in this dip. I use imitation crab leg meat and chop it up a bit. You don’t want the crab pieces to be any smaller than mine in the picture though. It is nice to have some solid chunks in there.
In fact, my husband informed me that I should have kept the chunks a bit larger. Next time, I suppose. And there will definitely be a next time!
Note: If the dip tastes a bit too much like Velveeta, just add a bit more sour cream and you will be golden.
Directions
This imitation crab dip recipe is super easy to make. Just melt it all the ingredients together in a pan or slow cooker and serve warm with crackers.
Notes: Chopping the Velveeta into large chunks first will help it to melt faster. I prefer Ritz or Club crackers with this dip, but it is good with lots of other options too.
