Why are the croissants sprayed with oil?
When you use the oil on the croissant it allows the outside of the bread to get nice and crispy, delivering that nice crunch. But it enables the inside to stay wonderfully tender and fluffy.
Do you toast the toppings too?
You can do it one of two ways. First, you can just air fry the croissant and call it a day. Or, you can also add the meat and cheese and toast them with the croissant.
However, I would not air fryer the tomatoes, avocado, and such if plan to add them to the sandwich.
How to make Air Fryer Croissant Sandwiches:
Step 1: Prepare the croissants
Start by cutting the croissants in half and then use your oil sprayer to spray each side of the croissants with a little oil.
Step 2: Air fry croissants
Once you have the croissants prepped, air fry them for 2 minutes at 350 degrees F or 177 degrees C.
Then, flip and toast the bread for an additional 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add the protein
After the bread is toasted, place the sliced turkey and cheese on the toasted croissant slices.
Continue to air fry for an additional 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted to your liking.
Step 4: Top the sandwiches
Carefully remove the toasted croissants with the meat and cheese. Then take your favorite toppings and add them to your sandwich and enjoy.
