Each month usually sees certain items go on sale. As we are moving into fall, September will bring us some great discounts. Check out our list of the 6 best things to buy in September.

1. End of Summer Clearance Apparel

By September, stores are trying to unload their summer apparel to make room for cooler-weather items. It’s a great time to stock up on cool clothes for next summer. Check out the clearance sections of stores like Walmart, Target, and Kohl’s. Just remember that clearance items can generally not be returned.

2. Grills, Outdoor Furniture, & Yard Games

Again, stores are trying to make room for the upcoming Holidays and will often put their grills, outdoor furniture, and yard games on sale. I don’t know about you, but we still grill in the snow. It doesn’t have to be summer to enjoy some freshly grilled steaks or burgers! Also check out the other outdoor items, like furniture and yard games. Kohl’s has a great selection of patio furniture. Also check Walmart and Target, as they might have some great deals too.

3. Appliances

New models of appliances for the upcoming year are going to be hitting showroom floors soon. To make room, appliance stores will be discounting this year’s models. If you are in the market for a new appliance, now is the time to buy.

4. iPhones

Historically, the new iPhone and Apple Watches are unveiled in September. As a result, older models can be deeply discounted. Look for Amazon to be discounting them soon.

5. School Supplies

Stores stock up on school supplies in July and August. Now that the kids are back in school, they will be discounting the ones they have left. You might not find as great of a selection, but the prices can’t be beat.

6. Apples and Pears

September is prime apple and pear season. Head out to your local orchard or farmer’s market for some fresh fruit. If you’re not lucky enough to have one in your area, grocery stores will have them on sale as well.
