10 Must-Do Family Activities For Fall!
Fall is in the air! Swimming and visiting the beach may not be the best idea, depending on where you live. Fortunately there are tons of fun family-friendly activities to do in the fall. Here are some of our favorites.
Visit A Pumpkin Patch
Find a pumpkin patch in your area and take your family to get your pumpkins for Halloween and fall décor. Kids love pumpkin patches because they get to choose a pumpkin for themselves. It’s also a good way to show them how plants can give us cool things. Oftentimes pumpkin patches have a bigger variety and are cheaper than buying in the store. Don’t forget to buy your pumpkin carving tools!
Plant Spring Bulbs
Not everyone knows that many spring flowers have bulbs that have to be planted in the fall. Beautify your outdoor space by planting a few, or a lot, with your family so you can enjoy them when the weather starts to warm again. This is another good way to teach kids about plants and how they grow. Tulips, Daffodils, and Crocus are just a few of the many spring bulbs you will want to plant now.
Take A Drive To Look At Fall Leaves
In most areas of the country, cooler weather means beautiful fall leaves in an array of colors. Think about taking a day drive to enjoy the fall scenery close to your home. You might even pack a picnic lunch if the weather is nice. It’s a great way to unplug and spend some quality time together.
Bake
I don’t know about you, but fall always puts me in the mood to do some baking. Maybe it’s the thought of the warm oven, or the yummy smells. Check out our 21 Best Recipes For Fall to get some ideas.
Apple Picking
Check to see if there are any apple orchards in your area. I Googled “Apple Orchards Near Me” and found several. Apples are easy for anyone to pick, so this is a great activity for families. Make sure to pick enough to make some yummy apple treats.
Take Your Christmas Card Photo
It may seem a little early, but now is the time to schedule your photographer. We know that there are shortages in virtually every industry, so you won’t want to wait to order your Christmas Cards. Give yourself a break this year and get them checked off your list early.
Find Your Way Through A Corn Maze
Often farmers will grow corn not for the vegetable, but for the sole purpose of creating family fun. Let your kids run out all their energy while exploring one of these fun outdoor play areas!
Warm Your Tummy With Homemade Soup
Nothing says comfort food like hearty soup in the fall. This would be a good time to try out a new recipe. Some of our favorites are this Zupas Wisconsin Cauliflower Copycat Soup, Instant Pot Chicken Gnocchi Soup, and Crockpot Beef Enchilada Soup.
Go For A Hayride
Going on a hayride could be another fun outdoor activity. Grab some warm blankets, wrap up, and make some memories!
Watch A Football Game
For some people, the most important thing about fall is football! There’s just something about feeling the energy in a football stadium during a game. If you are not able to attend a game in person, watching one on television can be super fun too. Whether it’s professional, college, or optimist football, you could have a good time catching a game this season.
