Ingredients and Supplies You’ll Need to Make this Easy Chicken Parmesan in the Air Fryer:
Ingredients:
- Frozen breaded chicken
- Marinara sauce
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
Supplies
- Spatula
- Spoon
- Air fryer (Cosori Pro II)
Does the chicken need to be thawed?
For this chicken parmesan recipe, you will not need to thaw the chicken patties first. The chicken will be cooked for a bit before you add the cheese and sauce.
This will make sure that the chicken comes up to the correct safe temperature and that the cheese does not burn.
What kind of mozzarella cheese?
When you are ready to make this easy chicken parmesan recipe you can really use whichever type of mozzarella cheese you want.
For simplicity purposes and because it is normally what I have on hand, I tend to use shredded cheese. However, you can use fresh mozzarella cheese. It will probably melt slightly better, but it will taste great either way.
How to Make Easy Chicken Parmesan in the Air Fryer:
Step 1: Precook the chicken
Begin by placing the frozen breaded chicken in the air fryer basket and cook at 360 degrees F or 182 degrees C for 12-14 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F or 74 degrees C.
Note that you can check the internal temperature of the chicken with an instant read thermometer to make sure that your chicken has cooked long enough.
Step 2: Sauce it up
After the chicken has come up to temperature, top each chicken piece with a small layer of cheese, anywhere from 1/8-1/4 cup, depending on how big your chicken pieces are and how much cheese you like.
Then, add a layer of marinara sauce. About a couple spoonfuls, or to taste will work great (I tend to like mine a little more on the saucy side).
Then sprinkle the chicken with additional cheese over top of the sauce layer.
Step 3: Finish cooking the chicken parmesan
When you have the chicken layered with the cheese and sauce, return the air fryer basket to the air fryer and turn it back on for another 2-3 minutes or until the cheese has melted to your liking.
Then simply serve and enjoy!
