Easy Cake Mix Banana Bread Recipe
Easy Banana Bread with Cake Mix
This cake mix banana bread recipe will be the easiest banana bread you’ll ever make. With just 3 main ingredients, you’ll probably already have everything on hand in your kitchen (except maybe the cake mix), and it should only take a couple of minutes to prepare your loaf for the oven.
On top of that, this banana bread with yellow cake mix tastes great! It may seem a bit weird at first to use cake mix to make banana bread, but it turns out really nice and moist and it’s super tasty. It’s definitely one you’ll want to make again.
If you want, you can substitute for 3 cups of shredded zucchini to make zucchini bread.
Cake Mix Banana Bread Ingredients
As you can see from the photo above, the ingredients for this cake mix banana bread recipe are super simple:
- 3 to 4 overripe bananas (about 1 1/2 cups mashed)
- 1 box yellow or vanilla cake mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)
How to Make Your Cake Mix Banana Bread
First, you’ll want to mash up your bananas real nicely. You can either do this by hand, or you can use a mixer (I used my KitchenAid). The mixer is definitely the easier route but doing it by hand is pretty easy as well.
After that, add your yellow cake mix and the other ingredients to your mashed banana mixture and mix it all up nicely. Once you do that your super simple cake mix banana bread batter is done. How easy was that?!
Getting Ready to Bake the Banana Bread
Now you’ll have to decide whether you want one large banana loaf or two mini ones. I like to make a couple of mini ones so I can save one in the fridge for later.
Once you’ve decided, spray your large loaf pan or mini loaf pans with a non-stick cooking spray (you could also use butter). I also like to sprinkle some flour in there as well. After you’ve done that just pour your batter in and pop it in the oven!
Enjoy Your Cake Mix Banana Bread!
This really is the easiest banana bread recipe ever. You can also customize it however you’d like! You can add chocolate chips, nuts, or you could even drizzle some Nutella on top (I like to spread peanut butter on my banana bread). My mouth is watering now!

Trying this now. It smells great! Thanks for the recipe!
This is an awesome recipe!! SO yummo and SO easy!! TY!!! Making some more for church in a.m.!!! God Bless!! 🙂
The picture of the ingredients shows a French Vanilla cake mix, but the recipe states “Yellow Cake Mix”. Which flavor is correct, or can either one be used?
I’ve used both with the same result.
Any cake mix can be used, I used yellow first time. Tried confette but thought that was too sweet. Tried chocolate & that wasOK. Want to try spice next time. Add anything you like, chips, raisins, cranbeeries or nuts Really good
Great tips, thanks Bette!
Question: the picture shows 3 eggs, but the recipe says 2.. which is it? Thanks!
I would go with the 2 in the recipe. I was probably thinking I was making a cake. Sorry.
have you ever tried making this with chocolate cake mix? How did it turn out?
I’m new at this, but I wanted to know what is considered a large loaf pan?
It’s generally 9″ x 5″
FYI-The mini loaf pans you have listed, are no longer $9.91.They’re now $17 and some change.
I use the disposable mini pans $1.00 for 4 a the dollar store and I use the pans more than one time.
Is it possible to make this in a traditional bundt pan.
I have never tried that but I am sure it would work. Try it out and let us know 🙂
I do!!!
I use one and just grease the sides well and cook for 40-45 minutes!! Dust the top with powdered sugar afterwards and it is gorgeously yummy
Thanks for sharing Amanda!
I have made it in a bundt pan and it works great. Just a little longer cooking time 45 min.
Oh great tip, thanks Dorothy!
Trying it now but using cinnamon bun cake mix.. I’ll let you know how it turns out.. 😀
Oh that’s a fun idea!!
I only have 2 bananas right now, will that be ok, should I add something else to make yo the difference? I guess I’m concerned about the consistency of it. I realize it would be less banana flavor. Just want to use these two up. Any help will be appreciate. I may just need to freeze these and wait till I get more bananas.
Thank you
Mine definitely doesn’t look like the picture and took way longer to bake. Not something I will be making again.
Made this with a spice cake mix with extra cinnamon and cloves. Beyond wonderful!
Yum! That sounds like a great adaptation and different flavor of cake mix banana bread. Thank for sharing, Bettina!
My husband and I adore this recipe. I make it wit Spice or Carrot cake mix and it is delicious!
Those options both sound like a delicious spin on cake mix banana bread! Love it! Thank you for your comment and review, Vicki.
