Easy Oven-Roasted Asparagus Recipe
Oven-roasted asparagus is as good as it gets. Quick and easy to make, only four ingredients required, and bursting with flavor!
How to Roast Asparagus In the Oven (The Best Way!)
I’ve always wanted a go-to, easy roasted asparagus recipe, but most of the recipes I try are a bit of a letdown. Until recently that is.
A while back, a friend invited us to dinner and served oven-roasted roasted asparagus as a side dish. It was excellent! A few of us even commented that it was the best asparagus we’ve ever had!
Of course, I asked her for the recipe and tried it out myself too. The funny thing is that it is one of the most simple and easy roasted asparagus recipes out there! Sometimes simple really is better!
All you need here is some asparagus, olive oil, kosher salt, and pepper, and about 5 minutes of prep time. That’s it! Let me show you just how easy it is:
Step 1. Pick & Prepare Your Asparagus
For roasting asparagus, look for thicker asparagus spears. The thicker, the better!
And as usual, break off and discard the tough, lower ends of the spears. This is really easy to do. If you grab the asparagus and bend it near the tough part, it should automatically snap off.
Step 2. Season
Start by placing your asparagus spears in a single layer on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet, then just roll the asparagus around in olive oil, coarse or kosher salt, and black pepper. Doing it all on the pan makes cleanup really easy.
Step 3. Bake!
Next, stick the asparagus in the oven at 400° Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, until they are tender when pierced with a fork. You can sometimes start to smell that the asparagus is close to being done too.
And that’s it! Told you it was easy 😉 Somehow the oven temperature, simple seasoning, and cooking time all work together to create the best roasted asparagus ever.
It doesn’t seem like anything special, but it sure tastes great! And it turns out perfectly every time.
Serving Tips
If you really love a hint of lemon or sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, go ahead and add some before serving or serve it alongside the asparagus. But I strongly recommend giving this asparagus recipe a try as it is written. You might be pleasantly surprised and pleased with the results.
