Air Fryer Tater Tots
I love making potatoes in the air fryer. From baked potatoes, to fries, hash browns, and melting potatoes, potatoes in the air fryer are so tasty. Let’s not forget to mention that its way faster to make potatoes in the air fryer than any other method.
Today, I am excited to add one more air fryer potato recipe to the list: tater tots in the air fryer! You will love this recipe because these tater tots aren’t your typical frozen tots. Nope, they are more delicious, adorable, and fluffy! You are going to love this air fryer recipe!
How to Make Tater Tots in the Air Fryer
To make tater tots in the air fryer, you only need three ingredients!
- 3 medium russet potatoes
- salt, pepper, seasoning of your choice
- Avocado oil spray
Okay, technically speaking that is 5 ingredients, but I will add that these tots are full of potato flavor and really don’t even need much seasoning, so you could make them salt free.
First, cut your potatoes in quarters and boil them in water for 5 minutes. Then, let them cool for 10 minutes.
How to Form Tater Tots
Next, it is time to form the tots. Grate boiled potatoes, including as much potato skin as desired. Then, mix in salt, pepper, or seasonings of choice.
Note: they were VERY sticky when I was trying to grate them. The longer the grated potato sat, the stickier it got as the starch broke down from boiling them.
But, don’t worry. The stickiness did make it easy to roll and shape the tots. Form the potatoes by spraying your hands with avocado oil and quickly rolling about 2 tablespoons of potato mixture between your hands into small ovals.
I first rolled it into a small ball, then gently added pressure as I rolled side to side to make it an oval shape.
