Can I use a different cheese?

As much as I’d like to say that you could use a different cheese besides Parmesan cheese, you definitely won’t get the same effect.

Parmesan is a dryer cheese that allows the cheese to crust over rather than melt and burn. However, the cheese will taste good even if it’s not crusted.

Why do I need to score the potatoes?

When you score the potatoes it allows the buttery sauce to seep into the potatoes not only seasoning the potatoes but it also makes the potatoes perfectly tender.

How to make Air Fryer Parmesan Crusted Potatoes:

Step 1: Prepare the potatoes

Start by washing and cutting the potatoes in half.

Now, score the potatoes by making diagonal slits along the inside pieces, without cutting all the way through.

Then, turn the potatoes, and make diagonal slits the other way crossing over the first slices.

Step 2: Create the buttery sauce

Once the potatoes are prepared, mix together the butter with the parmesan cheese, garlic, onion powder, paprika, and dried parsley together in a shallow dish that will fit in the air fryer basket.

Step 3: Cook the potatoes

After you put the butter seasoning into the dish, place the potatoes in the dish, and score side down. Place a cube of butter on top of each potato.

Air fry the seasoned potatoes at 350 degrees F or 177 degrees C for 15 minutes.

Step 4: Flip the potatoes

When the potatoes have cooked for a bit, flip the potatoes, and add shredded parmesan cheese (to taste) to the top of the potatoes.

Now, return the basket to the air fryer, and air fry the potatoes for another 5 minutes at 350 degrees F or 177 degrees C, or until potatoes are tender to your liking.
