What makes this a Hawaiian Recipe?

The best thing about this recipe is the flavor – aka the Hawaiian flavor that you get from the combination of the pineapple.

For this recipe you will use either fresh pineapple or canned pineapple will work. We also suggest using a Hawaiian BBQ sauce, but if you can’t find it, regular BBQ sauce works as well.

Should the chicken be cooked ahead of time?

When you are ready to make this dinner recipe, there is no need to cook the chicken ahead of time.

Cooking the veggies with the chicken allows both the chicken to come to the ideal internal temperature, as well as, cook the vegetables to the perfect tenderness.

How to Make Air Fryer Hawaiian Sheet Pan Dinner:

Step 1: Prep chicken and veggies

Cut chicken, onion, and bell peppers into bite-size cubes. Combine together in a bowl.

Step 2: Prepare the chicken mixture

Add 1/4 cup of Hawaiian BBQ sauce to the bowl with the chicken and veggies.

(Add additional BBQ sauce, if desired, but you will add more later during the last couple minutes of cooking).

Step 3: 1st Cooking of the chicken

Once the chicken is in the air fryer cook everything at 380 degrees F or 193 degrees C for 10 minutes.

Then, at the halfway point, stir everything and add 1 can of pineapple chunks to the chicken mixture.

Once the chicken is done cooking, check the internal temperature of the chicken, it should be near 165 degrees or 74 degrees C.

Step 4: 2nd Bake of the chicken

Now, drizzle on more BBQ sauce and mix everything together.

Spray the ingredients with oil. Then, bump up the heat a bit to 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until veggies are charred to your liking and chicken reaches an internal temp of 165 degrees F or 74 degrees C. Add more time as needed.

Step 5: Seve dinner

Remove the chicken mixture and serve it over rice or eat it as is.

Add more BBQ sauce, as you need it, and top the meal with lime juice and/or sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy.
