How to Make Honey Garlic Shrimp in the Air Fryer
This recipe is incredibly simple, it’s a perfect healthy weeknight recipe that can be prepared and ready in less than 20 minutes.
You will need:
- 1 pound uncooked shrimp, peeled & deveined
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger (fresh & optional)
Your shrimp can be fresh or thawed from frozen. When I got my shrimp, I had a hard time finding frozen uncooked shrimp that was peeled & deveined in the freezer aisle. As such, I ended up getting fresh uncooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp from the seafood department at my local grocery store.
If you keep your honey in the fridge, make sure to allow it to warm to room temperature prior to mixing so that it softens and is a lot easier to mix.
At the halfway point, use tongs to flip each shrimp over. You can also use some of the reserved sauce to glaze the shrimp at this point. This will coat the shrimp even more and make it taste so much better.
About the Garlic and Ginger
If you aren’t a fan of a strong garlic taste, I recommend reducing the amount of garlic from 1 tablespoon to 2 teaspoons.
The ginger is optional for this recipe. You will want to use fresh ginger. I don’t normally buy fresh ginger, but wanted to give it a try with this recipe. Oh my! I loved the flavor it added to the shrimp. If you are like me and don’t use ginger that often, you can still get it and then freeze the rest for later. In fact, working with frozen ginger is SO much easier than when it is fresh. Check out this fantastic guide for freezing and using ginger to learn more.

Final Thoughts
I loved making this honey garlic shrimp in the air fryer because it was simple, flavorful, and (mostly) everyone liked it. And that is saying a lot because my kids aren’t huge shrimp fans! My favorite part was how thick the sauce was – almost like a glaze because of the honey. Furthermore, this delicious sauce/glaze would also do well over other meats. Let me know if you tried this honey garlic sauce on shrimp or another meat! I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

This looks awesome! Can’t wait to try it. My only question is , the size of the shrimp. I know you suggested jumbo/20 per lb.) for the coconut shrimp. That sounds good to me, but comparing pictures of the two recipes, the shrimp with the honey look smaller. Any recommendations? Loving your recipes and ideas! Thanks.🌈🌈🌈
Hi Trish! Sorry about that! These are more of the medium to large sized shrimp. You could do any size you want really, then just adjust the cooking time accordingly. Hope that helps!
