Just a handful of spices to make a quick and easy spice rub for these chicken thighs!
Even with the chili powder and cayenne, the chicken is not too spicy at all. The whole family loved it! If you’re looking for more spice, you can add it in with more cayenne or in the toppings or whatever else you serve with it.
After you pat your chicken dry, rub a small amount of your favorite cooking oil (I recommend avocado oil) onto the chicken thighs. The rub in your seasoning mix!
Place the chicken thighs in your air fryer (I have and LOVE the Philips XXL Air Fryer). You just want enough room in the air fryer so the air can circulate around the chicken, so don’t pack it in!
How long to cook chicken thighs in air fryer?
It’s so effortless to cook chicken thighs in the air fryer! Cook them for 12-16 minutes at 400˚ or until your instant read thermometer comes to 175˚. I usually let the air fried chicken thighs rest in foil for a few minutes while I pull out the rest of the things I need for Chicken Street Tacos.
How to Serve Air Fryer Chicken Thighs:
This chicken is so great for chicken street tacos… it makes for a fast and easy dinner night!
Simply chop up or shred the air fryer chicken thighs, and place a small portion of chicken in some small corn tortillas or flour tortillas. Then add some shredded lettuce or even coleslaw mix, pico de gallo, cheese, cilantro lime dressing, and whatever else you like on tacos! You’ll love this easy air fryer chicken!
This would also be excellent chicken to top on your favorite salad. The flavor is just perfect!
You could also enjoy this chicken on some fry bread for Navajo Tacos. YUM! OR it might even add some extra pizzazz to this yummy Alfredo Sauce recipe!

- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 2 teaspoons avocado oil or other oil
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- Pinch cayenne pepper
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
- Pat chicken dry with paper towels, rub with oil, and sprinkle evenly on both sides with spice mixture.
- Place chicken in air fryer basket and cook at 400˚F/204˚C for 12-16 minutes, or until chicken registers 175˚F/79˚C. Flip halfway through cooking, if desired.
- Let chicken cool slightly, then shred or chop into bite-size pieces. Serve chicken with lime wedges over salad or in tortillas with taco toppings.

Can this be frozen and used at a later date.
I haven’t tried freezing this recipe after cooking it, but I don’t see why not! Typically cooked chicken lasts in the freezer for about 4 months.
