Quick Cookies in the Air Fry

Our air fryer cake mix cookie recipe is great for making cookies in a pinch or just a couple at a time and saving the rest of the cookie dough for later.

The air fryer is great for making cookies in a shorter amount of time since you don’t need to wait for it to preheat like you would an oven.

Plus when you use a cake mix, it limits the amount of measuring you need to do and still leaves you with a delicious dessert recipe that is moist, soft, chewy, and simple to throw together.

Ingredients and Supplies for Air Fryer Cake Mix Cookies

air fryer cake mix cookie ingredients

  • Devil’s Food Box Cake Mix
  • Applesauce (or vegetable oil)
  • Large eggs
  • Chips or candy (optional)
  • Sprinkles or nuts (optional)

Really, you only need three ingredients to make these tasty treats, the last two are optional!

Supplies:

How to avoid messy clean-up

I like to use air fryer parchment paper when making cookies in the air fryer. It makes removing the cookies from the air fryer a lot easier. Additionally, cleanup is a breeze.

Take your cookie batter and with a small scoop or a large spoon form dough balls. Then, place the dough balls on the parchment paper, inside the air fryer basket.

How to store leftover cookies:

If you made all of the cookies but want to save them for later, place them in an airtight container or a freezer-safe bag and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Change the flavor:

What is so great about this air fryer cookies recipe is that you can make different flavors just by changing out the cake mix.

Here are a few flavor ideas:

  • Red velvet cake mix
  • Strawberry cake mix
  • Spiced cake mix
  • Chocolate cake mix
  • Vanilla cake mix

You can so pick different mix-ins for the cookies to change the flavors:

  • Chocolate chips
  • White chocolate chips
  • Walnuts
  • Toffee bits
  • Caramel bits
  • Sprinkles
  • Andies mint pieces

How to Bake Cookies in the Air Fryer

Step 1: Mix the dough

Begin by ming all of the chocolate cake mix cookie ingredients in a large mixing bowl until they are just combined by hand or with a hand-mixer.

Step 2: Shape the dough

Take about 1-2 tablespoons of the cookie dough and roll them into a ball.

The amount of cookies that you can bake at a time will depend on the size of your air fryer basket and the size of your dough balls. You will need to work in batches to bake the entire batter.

Step 3: Air fry the cookies

Place the rolled cookie dough in the bottom of the air fryer basket, but don’t let the dough balls overlap or touch.

Once ready, air fry the cookies at 370°F or 185°C for 4 minutes, or until done.

Are Cookies in the Air Fryer Actually Faster?

If you need to cook a bunch of cookies for a crowd, I recommend using your oven to bake this recipe. However, if you are looking for just a couple of cookies for yourself and someone else, then you’ll want to use your air fryer. Your cookies will be ready in no time.

You can then store the batter in an air-tight container and place the cookies in the refrigerator for a couple of days and enjoy cookies whenever you want!
