I have been looking for a good all purpose cleaner recipe. I found a few that I liked and combined them to make this one. I tried it out all weekend and loved it! {I am a big 409 fan and I think this works even better than 409!} Here is what you need:

2 tsp Borax
1 tsp Washing Soda (NOT baking soda)
1/2 cup white vinegar
2 cups hot water
1/2 tsp dish soap {I prefer Dawn}
empty spray bottle {I’m reusing an old empty one}
I add the Borax and Washing Soda first to the funnel, the remaining liquids wash the rest of the powder down.
Next add the 1/2 cup of white vinegar
It foams up a lot, wait till the foam goes down
Then add 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap. I prefer Dawn, but you can use what you have on hand
Finally add 2 cups of hot water and shake gently to mix it up. It will be a little sudsy.
I tried it out on my dirty bathroom that my kids use to wash their hands after playing outside and getting nice and dirty, the sink is always a mess!
Waa-Laa nice and shiny! I also used it on my walls {I wouldn’t use it if you have Flat paint, it will take the paint off!} under the counter where my kids eat. There was some nice dried on food and all sorts of yucky things…I sprayed it and let it sit for a couple of minutes then just used a wet washcloth to wipe it off and it looks so much better! I also used it to clean my floor boards under said counter and they look so much better too!

All Purpose Cleaner Recipe
1 tsp. washing soda
2 tsp. Borax
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 tsp. dish soap
2 cups hot water
Combine all ingredients in an empty spray bottle. Shake gently to mix. Clean away!

I make my own also, and I am making my own disinfectant with vinegar and orange rinds. Now I starting something to add to my cleaner recipe….I am adding the homemade disinfectant in lieu of the plain vinegar. WOW! Who would have known the difference it would make, and the citrus scent to boot! Just thought I would pass along!

I love this! I have all of this on hand b/c it’s what I use to make my own laundry deteregent as well.. I make it by the 5 gallon bucket and since it’s all stain removers, there’s never a problem getting all the grass and dirt stains out of the kids clothes! Will definitely be making the cleaners today since I haven’t found any deals I like on cleaning products in a few weeks..
We’re switching to less chemicals. I took 3 cups of orange, lemon, and lime peels, and put them in a mason jar. Top with vinegar, let sit for two weeks. Works wonderful! The vinegar smell leaves when it dries.
Could I try this with the paper towels cut in half and use as disposable as opposed to spray?

I have borax and washing soda on hand from making my laundry soap, so this was great! I made the mixture in an empty wipes container and used my husbands old t-shirts which I cut into squares and it was perfect! He’s a bit of a T-shirt hoarder so right now I’m using and throwing away. Love this recipe! Thanks so much!
I am wondering if you have a wood cleaner recipe? Like the pledge wipes? I have an old wooden table and dont dare use harsh chemicals on it! any tips?
