  • Holy COW! I never would have even thought to do that – THANKS! I totally want to go cook chicken now just to try it – LOL!

Friendly tip (so no one else has to learn the hard way like I just did!)
Shred the chicken when it’s still warm! Last week after I got my Zaycon chicken order I roasted about 10lbs of it. Then I got lazy and just threw it into the fridge once it was cooked. It was a mess when I tried to shred it the next day with my mixer. Chicken was flying everywhere and it got mushy! ick!
It works perfectly when you do it warm and has motivated me to cook up a bunch all at once and then stick one cup bags in my freezer for easy dinners later on.
Also, you can do this with any stand mixer, it doesn’t have to be a Kitchen Aid! Haven’t tried it will a hand held mixer but it probably will work fine if you just shred a small amount at a time.

can you achieve the same results with any type of attachments on a hand mixer (or has to be a stand mixer)?

    • Jessica

I tried using a basic hand mixer once before. It worked but it took a little longer and made a bit more of a mess. It might just take practice, which I haven’t done 🙂

We used our mixer the other night to do this for the first time! It was awesome! We had chicken tacos and still have plenty left over to use for enchiladas another night! Definitely shredded finer than 2 forks did!

  • This is so simple; I can’t believe I never thought of it, but I am so glad that you did. I am making chicken pot pie tonight and had no idea how to turn my grilled cutlets into shredded chicken without a ton of work. Thank you so much for this! I shredded mine right after sautéing in a skillet on the stove, and it worked out so well.

Very Nice Information about Stand mixer.

Can I buy this stand mixer in India? Can you provide me official website detail in India? Actually I want to know about stand mixer prices, specification, reviews and details of all available versions in India.

I tried this the other night with my Kitchen Aid hand mixer. Wow, it shredded up super quickly!! My husband thought I was nuts when I set up the hand mixer, took the chicken out of the sous vide, and dumped it in a bowl. He really thought I was joking when I picked up the mixer. 🙂 But that is such a great tip — thank you! I sometimes cook for church suppers, and having such nicely shredded chicken will help stretch our dollar for things like casseroles, enchiladas, etc.

Yay!! I still use this all the time, even years later! I’m so glad you love it. I hope you have a lifelong tip that will speed up all your chicken related kitchen endeavors!

I just tried this without the stand mixer. I have a KitchenAid hand mixer and cooked 6 lbs of boneless chicken breasts in the slow cooker today for BBQ chicken sandwiches. I thought what the heck I am going to try the
mixer method. It works. I got it our shredded it and put BBQ sauce on it and had it back in the slow cooker in
15 min. I will never stand and shred again!!!!!
