Quick Banana Chocolate Chip Smoothie

Smoothies are great. They’re easy and quick to make, you can modify them however you want, and they’re super delicious. Plus, you can have them on the go!

Now, there are several different versions of the Chunky Monkey Smoothie out there but this is the one I like best. I LOVE that this smoothie is so simple and it’s got some bananas in it! (It’s the only way I can get my kids to eat bananas!)

This is a perfect treat or after school snack that you can feel good about! It would also make a great lunch box smoothie – just whip it up in the blender, put it in a to-go container and freeze it, and then by lunchtime, it should be soft enough to eat.

As you can see this chocolate chip smoothie recipe is super simple! There are only 6 ingredients:

  • Low-fat milk
  • Medium ripe banana
  • Peanut butter
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Nestle Nesquick powder (you could also make your own DIY Nesquik)
  • Crushed ice

Because of these ingredients, this smoothie definitely isn’t the healthiest in the world, but it’s not the worst for you either. Feel free to make some substitutions if you want to make it a bit healthier!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 medium ripe banana (frozen banana works too)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1-2 tablespoons semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons Nestle Nesquik or chocolate protein powder

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth! Enjoy!

  • The amount of sugar and fat cancels out any health benefits the banana had.
    I’m not trying to rain on your parade here but come on, let’s be realistic. Don’t try to pass this off as a “healthy” snack when it isn’t.

  • I am a huge fan of peanut butter/chocolate/banana smoothies. This one is easy and I usually have everything on hand. I do substitute the Nestle Nesquik with Ovaltine and I also throw in a handful of granola or oats. It is great with the bananas but is also good with strawberries. Thank you Jessica for all you do!

  • I can’t wait to make this, which I’m about to do when I finish typing this. As far as sugar and fat, substitutions can be made easily, but I like this as a substitute to, say, a chocolate chip frappe. I use 2% milk (I have a friend who says she used almond milk), Ovaltine, lowfat peanut butter, and a healthier peanut butter. It might not be a special health smoothie, but I think it’s a great substitute to a naughty ice cream treat. So again, I’m really looking forward to it!

    • I said that last part wrong (too many outside voices in this room distracting me!). What I meant to say is I’m using a low-fat, healthier type peanut butter. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I tried this, it is incredible when the taste hit my mouth it was like an angel from heaven It might not be the healthiest in the world but oh is it good. Great Job!
