Does this recipe work frozen?
If you want to speed up the process, you can always double the recipe and then freeze half of the chicken after you have it seasoned.
Then you just need to pop it in the air fryer and assemble your buffalo wrap.
What to put in a buffalo burrito or wrap?
You can keep this recipe simple by keeping to just using ranch dressing, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and chopped buffalo chicken.
Or, you can add a little crunch with some chopped celery, shredded carrots, or chopped cabbage or keep it simple by grabbing a bag of cole slaw. Also, seasoning with a little salt and pepper for extra flavor.
Other chicken options:
If you want to keep this even more simple, you can use frozen chicken wings and replace it with boneless chicken.
Or if you are really short on time, you can always use a rotisserie chicken and shred the meat, and heat it in the air fryer after tossing it with the buffalo sauce.
How to make this Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wrap:
Step 1: Prep the chicken
First pound down the chicken with a meat mallet or tenderizer until it is even in thickness for even cooking.
Once that is done, cube the chicken into bite-size pieces or chicken strips and place the chicken in a small mixing bowl.
Step 2: Season the chicken
Add about half of the buffalo sauce to the bowl and then stir it together to combine with the chicken.
After the chicken is coated in the buffalo sauce, place it in the air fryer basket. Drizzle on a little more of the buffalo sauce (leave a little of the sauce to add for when it is done cooking).
Step 3: Season the chicken
After you have the seasoning made up, spray the chicken with oil then liberally add on the seasoning mixture.
Make sure to rub the seasoning mixture into the chicken so it is coated.
Step 4: Cook the chicken
Air fry the chicken at 380 degrees F or 193 degrees C for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking and adding more time as needed.
Note that the total time to cook the chicken will depend on the size of your chicken cubes. The smaller they are the faster they will cook.
Step 5: Add buffalo sauce
Remove from the air fryer basket, drizzle the remaining buffalo sauce, and then stir it together once more.
Step 6: Build buffalo chicken wrap
When you are ready to make the wraps, lay down the tortillas, add the buffalo chicken mixture, add ranch, lettuce, and any additional toppings. Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll the wrap burrito-style.
Enjoy warm or cold! (If enjoying warm, place back in the air fryer and air fry at 350 degrees F or 177 degrees C for 2-3 minutes).
Remove from the air fryer basket, drizzle the remaining buffalo sauce, and then stir it together once more.
