How to Make a DIY 3 Tier Stand for Cheap
This is one of my favorite space-saving ways to display food for a party or gathering. This DIY 3 tier stand is so easy to make yourself and very inexpensive too. You can create them for around $5 and pick colors to coordinate with your party theme or just make one for any occasion!
One of the best places to gather inexpensive materials for this project is from Dollar Tree. They have a large selection of plates (both stoneware, glass, and plastic) and candlestick holders, all for a dollar.
How to Make a DIY 3 Tier Serving Tray
Materials
- 3 plates (you can mix and match styles, patterns, sizes, and colors)
- 2 candlestick holders
- E6000 glue
- Measuring Tape
- Spray Paint (if you are painting the candlestick holders).
Step 1. Prep Work
Find the center of the two top plates (both top and bottom of the plate) by using a tape measure. Mark the center with a washable marker or something you can remove or erase.
You can paint the candlestick holders by using spray paint if you desire them a particular color. Just make a few light coats over the candlestick.
For the best results, don’t paint the very top and bottom of the candlestick where the glue will contact the surface. The paint could affect how well the candlestick bonds to the surface of the plate.
Step 2. Putting the DIY 3 Tier Stand Together
Start by centering the bottom of the candlestick holder over the top middle mark of the bottom plate, then glue it to the top of the plate. Let it dry before moving on.
Next, glue the top of the candlestick to the bottom of the middle plate, being sure to center it over the center mark you previously placed on the bottom of the plate. Allow it to dry and repeat this process for the remaining plates.
Step 3. Display Something!
You can now arrange your refreshments on the DIY tiered tray. You could also use it to hold jewelry and cosmetics in a bathroom or dresser.

DIY 3 Tier Stand Decorating Tips
I have seen some of these used in themed parties using plates that are the colors of the party theme. You could also embellish the edges with draped beads or glued on sparkles, or, for boys, you could glue or place on lego action figures that match the theme of the party.
You can also just leave it as it is if you want a simple, elegant look. 🙂 There are so many options and different ways to make your DIY serving tray look amazing and unique!
