5 At-Home Gym Equipment Essentials
In the last couple of years, more people have turned to working out at home instead of going to the gym. There are many different workout programs and options (for example, here are 10 free online workout classes). The equipment you will need may depend on what program you are working out with. But no matter what you are doing, there are 5 home gym essentials that you’ll want to have to get your body toned and in shape. These tools will allow you to have a variety of workout options, so if you feel like one program isn’t working for you, you will be able to easily change it up and try something else!
1. Yoga Mat
You’ll want to workout on a solid, comfortable surface- a yoga mat is the perfect solution. You’ll be able to use it for a variety of exercises. It is definitely worth the investment!
2. Resistance Bands
Resistance bands are durable and adaptable. You can easily use them for your upper or lower body to get more out of your workout. They are useful to stretch or strengthen your body.
3. Dumbbells
Having a few dumbbells on hand gives you the option to add more weight to your workout, helping your body get stronger. I personally enjoy workouts that are low-weight and high reps, so having 2 lb dumbbells allows me to easily step-up my game.
4. Foam Roller
As you get stronger, your body will start to ache! Even though it hurts, this is normal! So having a foam roller on hand will do wonders in working through those aches and pains.
5. Massager
I love my massager! It is another great tool to have to help with aching muscles. Try using one before your workout to loosen up your muscles.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need much to have a great workout! There are also many equipment-free workouts that will get your body moving, heart racing, and muscles aching. Check out this 10-minute workout you can do at any point of the day!
If you want to invest in an online service, Les Mills OnDemand is my personal favorite. They have so many different workouts that are driven by science.
You can also make a quick search on YouTube to find many more free and awesome workouts.
Do you have any workout channels, programs, or services that you love? I’d love to hear about what is working for you!
