8 Surprising Uses For Dawn Dish Soap

We’ve been using blue Dawn dish soap for years to fight the greasy grime on our dishes. However, Dawn isn’t just for dishes anymore! Check out these surprising uses for Dawn dish soap.

Clean Grill Grates

Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with enough Dawn to make a thick paste. Rub directly on the grates and let it sit for 30 minutes. Scrub with a scrubbing sponge and wipe clean.

Clean Your Tools

Add 1 Tablespoon of Dawn to a gallon of hot water. Soak your tools for a few minutes and then wipe clean with an old rag.

Keep Aphids Out Of Your Garden

For a safe way to remove these nasty bugs from your garden, mix 2 1/2 Tablespoons of Dawn with a gallon of water. Put your mixture in a spray bottle and spray the tops and bottoms of your leaves. Do this once a day for a few days to get rid of your unwanted guests. The best part is that it won’t hurt ladybugs or bees.

Treat Greasy Food Stains

There’s nothing worse than getting a grease stain on your favorite shirt. Put a few drops of Dawn directly onto the spot, scrub it (toothbrushes work great), and then wash normally. Make sure to check the spot before putting your garment in the dryer.

Clean Car Hubcaps

Get your hubcaps wet, put some Dawn on a scrubbing sponge, and start scrubbing away. It works better than you would think.

Clean Your Driveway

No one likes unsightly oil stains on their driveway. First, sprinkle kitty litter on your spots and then add some Dawn soap and warm water. Scrub with a hard-bristled brush, remove the kitty litter, and then spray clean.

Make Homemade Bubbles

Mix 6 cups of water with 1 cup of Dawn and gently stir. Then mix in 1/4 cup of corn syrup and let it sit overnight. Make sure you have some bubble wands on hand!

Unclog Your Sink

Pour 1/2 cup of Dawn down your drain and let it sit for about 30 minutes before pouring in boiling water.
