30-Minute Lemon Butter Sauce Chicken & Mushrooms
Creamy Lemon Butter Sauce for Chicken
This lemon butter sauce chicken recipe was inspired by two of my favorite restaurant recipes:
- The Chicken Costaletta at The Cheese Cake Factory; and
- Pollo Rosa Maria Chicken from Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
I love a good lemon butter sauce, so I decided I would come up with my own. I also add some mushrooms to my recipe since I love them, but this lemon butter sauce tastes good on pretty much anything!
Preparing Chicken & Lemon Butter Sauce
Start by butterflying your chicken breasts so that you have 4 thin breasts. You’re then going to grill your chicken on low-med heat.
After that, juice your lemon into a large saute pan on medium heat.
Preparing the Mushrooms
To prepare your mushrooms, first, add them to the large saute pan where you just juiced your lemon. Let that simmer for only 1 minute.
Then, transfer your mushrooms to a smaller saucepan with 1/4 cup of butter. Saute the mushrooms in the butter.
Finishing the Lemon Butter Sauce
Head back over to the large saucepan with the lemon juice in it, and add the heavy whipping cream. Whisk that together. After that, add in 1/2 of butter a tablespoon at a time while continuing to whisk.
Once your chicken is cooked through, add it to the lemon butter sauce.
Finishing Touches and Serving Tips
All that’s left to do is add some final ingredients and you’re done! Cover the lemon butter sauce chicken with cheese and mushrooms, then cover the whole pan with a lid and cook on medium heat for 5-10 minutes.
Serve your lemon butter sauce chicken with rice, vegetables, or salad. You could also serve with some delicious mashed potatoes!
The second day we had leftovers so I cut up the chicken and mixed it with the lemon butter sauce rice and peas and we ate it like a casserole. This was very delicious too.

Ingredients
- 2 Breasts Chicken
- 1 Cup of sliced mushrooms
- ½ Cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 Tsp Minced Garlic
Lemon Butter Sauce:
- 1 medium-large lemon
- ½ Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- ¾ Cup Butter 1 1/2 Sticks
Instructions

- Start grilling your chicken on a low- med heat.
- Juice lemon into a large saute pan and med heat.
- Add mushrooms and garlic and let simmer for only 1 minute.
- Remove mushrooms and add them to a smaller sauce pan with 1/4 cup of butter.
- Saute the mushrooms in the butter.
- Add whipping cream to lemon juice in the large sauce pan. whisk together.
- Add in 1/2 cup of butter a tablespoon at a time. Continue to whisk together.
- When chicken is cooked through add it to the lemon butter sauce.
- Cover the chicken with cheese and mushrooms.
- Cover ingredients with a lid and let cook on med heat for 5-10 minutes.
- Serve with rice and vegetables.
