I’m not a huge fan of store credit cards, but I absolutely LOVE the Target REDcard. It’s definitely one of the best rewards programs that I’ve seen a store offer. If you shop at Target at all, you’ll want to read on.

What is the Target Red Card?

The Target REDcard is a credit/debit card offered by Target that gives shoppers a ton of perks. You get a 5% discount on all purchases, free shipping, and a lot more (read the benefits below).

Target Red Card Benefits

1. Great Discounts. For regular Target shoppers (not to mention coupon shoppers), just deducting 5% from all purchase prices is a big deal. This is an immediate discount taken at the register, not cash back that must be claimed at some later date.
2. Free Shipping at Target.com. Love the free shipping with no minimum purchase! Online purchases can often time be picked up from a store location and even returned at a physical location, so you can feel better about buying shoes or clothing to try on at home.
3. Extended Returns. With a Target REDcard you will receive an extra 30 days to return your unwanted items.
4. Donations to Education. Target donates 1% of the amount of all REDcard purchases to the K-12 school of your choice.
5. No Potential for Debt. If you avoid credit cards because it is too easy to incur costly debt, you can still get these benefits – just sign up for the debit card instead of the credit card. It links to your existing checking account and you can’t spend what you don’t have.
6. No Credit Check. No matter your credit history, nearly all applicants with a checking account are approved. The online application process for debit and credit has immediate approval except for some debit applications which will require a few days to confirm bank account.
7. No Fees. There is no need to worry about monthly fees, annual fees, or charges for going below a minimum balance.
8. Contests and Promotions. Every now and then, Target REDcard Holders are eligible for exclusive giveaways, deals and chances to win big! There have been promotional days where REDcard holders get free or reduced food items from the food court too.
