Easy Freezer Calzones Recipe
Freezer Pizza Calzones Recipe
These pizza freezer calzones are super easy to make and I really love the fact that you can freeze them! I recommend making a few at a time so that you can freeze the extras, and then cook up one or two for dinner.
Honestly, these pizza calzones are kind of like big, fancy, homemade pizza pops. The only difference is that these taste better, and they’re probably healthier too.
Pizza Calzone Ingredients
For the dough in this recipe, I use a loaf of Rhodes dough split in two. You could also use this homemade pizza dough.
One of my favorite things about pizza recipes is how customizable they are. With these freezer calzones, you can pretty much add any topping you desire. Here are some recommendations:
- Pepperoni
- Bacon
- Sausage
- Olives
- Pepper
- Mushrooms
- Onions
…that list could go on for a while. Get creative with your calzones because if you’re making extra it’s always nice to have some variety. It’s fun too! Let me know what your favorite calzone toppings are in the comments!
The other thing you can customize in your calzone is the cheese you use. You can go with what we’ve listed (which tastes great) or you can make it extra cheesy! Try adding some cheddar in there or extra mozzarella!
Serving Tips
Since each calzone is pretty big and packed full of cheesy, pizza goodness, you can cut them in half to serve two people. Unless you’re really hungry you probably won’t want to eat an entire one to yourself.
Unless you added some vegetables to your calzone, this meal is definitely lacking in the greens department. Serve your calzone with a green salad or a side of veggies and dip to make this meal nice and well-rounded.
