BBQ Baked Beans is such a great dish to know how to make, and even better when you can make it in the air fryer.

Generally when we are making a hearty barbecue meal so much of the stove and oven are taken over, so it is nice to know that you can get the perfect baked beans in the air fryer.

There are so many great sides that you can make in the air fryer that you might not have thought of! For some inspiration, check out my YouTube video with 20 sides and snacks to make in your air fryer.

Ingredients and Supplies You’ll Need to Make BBQ Baked Beans:

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • Bacon
  • Onion, diced
  • Mixed chili beans
  • Pork and beans
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Honey or molasses
  • Brown sugar
  • Water

Supplies

How to make the bacon

For this recipe, I would suggest having your bacon be more on the crispy side. Since it gets mixed into a bunch of sauces it will soften up a bit.

You can make bacon in the air fryer or cook the bacon in the oven, but either way, you need to make sure that the bacon has been cooked to your desired crispiness before mixing everything together.

Type of meat to use

When you are making this BBQ baked beans recipe I normally will use ground beef. However, I will occasionally switch it up to use either ground turkey or ground chicken.

It really depends on what I have in the house, but again this needs to be sauteed before mixing everything together.

How to Make BBQ Baked Beans:

Step 1: Brown the meat

Brown the ground beef or ground turkey with the onions.

Cook the bacon, I personally think it tastes better when the bacon is leaning toward the crunchy side. (You can do this on the stovetop or in the air fryer, oven, or whatever method you prefer).

Step 2: Prepare the bacon and beans

Once the meat is browned and the bacon is cooked, chop the bacon into bite-sized pieces.

Then, drain and wash the mixed chili beans until the water runs clear.

Step 3: Mix it all together

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onions, bacon, and chili beans.

Then stir in the can of pork and beans.

Next, stir in the ketchup, mustard, molasses, brown sugar, and water, until everything is combined.

Step 4: Place mixture into the pot

Place the bean mixture in an air fryer silicone pot (or any air fryer-safe dish that fits in the air fryer). I was able to put all the beans in the silicone pot, so I recommend this method so you don’t have to cook in batches.

Step 5: Cook the beans mixture

Then, cook for 15-20 minutes at 380 degrees F or 193 degrees C in the air fryer, stirring about every 5 minutes so that the beans cook evenly.

Continue cooking until the beans are creamy and cooked to your liking. Then carefully remove the dish, serve, and enjoy!

BBQ dishes to make

Since we all know BBQ’s are only as good as the food that is served at it (and of course the company) so, let me suggest a few other recipes you can try as well!

Final Thoughts

Do not shy away from these BBQ Baked Beans! Omg, they are so delicious and filled with so much flavor, it’s unbelievable.

I could probably eat half of this recipe just to myself if left to my own devices, however, my kids make me share so I tend to double this recipe so we have plenty to go around!
