DIY Pin Up Girl Bandana Headband! No Sew!

I know almost all of you have experienced that point in time where you hair is growing out after a cut and you just can’t seem to do anything with it. That’s the stage my hair is in. It’s too short to put in a ponytail and it’s too long to stay gelled into place. So, I’ve started wearing headbands. This is all fine and dandy but I’m tired of looking like I did back in my Catholic school uniform days. So, I gave my headband a little grownup touch by turning it into a pin up style bandana! Check it out!

Here’s what you need:

I hope I explain this well enough for you to follow!! If you have trouble, don’t be afraid to ask for help! Ok, here we go…

Open your bandana and lay it out. Then, fold one corner to the center of the bandana.

Now, pull the tip of the first fold down into a second fold (so that the tip of the bandana touches the crease of your first fold).

Repeat these steps on the opposite side of the bandana.

Fold the entire bandana in half. Then, fold it in half again.

Now, take your headband and place it in the center of the fold.

Pick your bandana up (make sure the length is even on both sides). Now, pinch the material tight at the base of the headband. This next part is a little difficult to explain but you’re going to take the extra material and tuck the tail under (through) the headband (see picture).

Now, pull the excess material tight and wrap it over the outside of the headband. This is very similar to tying a man’s necktie.

Now, wrap the end through the underside of the headband again.

Your headband should look like this..

Repeat the bandana wrap on the opposite side.

Now, pull the bandana tails up over the top of the headband and tie it in a knot.

That’s it!! You’ve just made yourself a pin up style bandana headband! I love that it’s a no sew (or glue) so you can remove the bandana and use the headband by itself or change the color of the headband to match the mood of the day!
