Sweet & Spicy Hot Wings Recipe (Quick Prep)
Sweet & Spicy Hot Wings
Sweet & spicy is definitely one of my favorite flavors, and these sweet & spicy wings are absolutely amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! I like to serve these hot wings with vegetables, like fresh veggies or salad, these slow cooker honey glazed carrots, or roasted asparagus.
If you end up making these wings for your family, I’ll give you a warning: these things go fast. Everyone loves them! Seriously a big hit with my family. A little bit messy with all that sweet and spicy sauce, but so worth it!
Skip turning the wings over during baking if you place them on a wire cooling rack inside the baking sheet!
Sweet & Spicy Wing Sauce with Brown Sugar:
This sweet hot sauce recipe is so good! It reminds me of Buffalo sauce, actually, and has great flavor and consistency. While this sauce is made for wings, you could really put it on anything you please!
Also, you can feel free to adjust the hot sauce and brown sugar proportions to make your sauce sweeter or spicier. It’s up to you!
Recommended Slow cooker:
If you’re going to cook these hot wings but you don’t plan to serve them right away, you can leave them in a slow cooker to keep them warm. This is especially handy for parties, like New Year’s Eve or Super Bowl!
Here are the recommended slow cookers on Amazon – the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cook & Carry is a nice simple choice!
Serve these hot wings with fresh veggies, like celery sticks or salad, and Ranch dressing! The sweet and spicy wing sauce is a bit spicy, but not so much that I can’t eat them without Ranch. But, of course, they are even better with a little Ranch dressing on there! Enjoy!

Sweet & Spicy Hot Wings Recipe (Quick Prep)
Ingredients
- 4 pounds chicken wings or drumettes and wings
- ground black pepper
- garlic powder
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup hot sauce
- ½ cup butter
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 ½ tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with foil. If you have one, place a wire cooling rack in the pan. Either spay the rack with nonstick cooking spray or cover the wings in cooking oil. Season wings with black pepper and garlic powder, to taste. Then spread the wings in a single layer on the rack.
- Bake at 400°F/200°C, until crispy and golden, or until they reach 180 degrees F internally. If you use a wire rack in the pan, turning the wings is not necessary. If you don't, then turn the wings over a few times during baking.
- Baking time will vary depending on size of wings and whether they are thawed or frozen when you place them in the oven, but plan on about 45-60 minutes. If you want your wings to be a little crispier, broil at the end of cooking time for about 8 minutes, turning once halfway through.
- While the wings are baking, in a medium size sauce pan, combine ketchup, hot sauce, butter, Worcestershire sauce, honey and brown sugar.
- Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring frequently. Whisk in cornstarch and mix well. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Remove wings from oven and transfer to a large mixing bowl or slow cooker. Pour sauce mixture over wings and lightly toss to completely coat. Serve while hot or keep warm in a slow cooker until ready to eat.
I used this sauce from this recipe on ground turkey burgers I made and it was absolutely delicious!!! I just added some smoked paprika, salt, and pepper into the sauce. It was the BEST!
Oh, that sounds like an excellent idea! Yum! Thank you for sharing, McKayla!
