What Kind of Crab to Use in Crab Cakes
Canned lump crab meat is the easiest and most affordable way for me to get real crab meat where I live. Most grocery stores carry it and you can usually find it near the canned tuna.
If you can use fresh, real crab meat, weigh it out to 8 ounces and break up the pieces of crab into small chunks. Don’t use imitation crab!
How to Make Keto Crab Cakes
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl – lump crab meat, almond flour, fresh parsley, green onion, Old Bay seasoning, salt, pepper, egg, mayo, and Dijon mustard. If you have a different favorite seafood seasoning, feel free to use that in place of the Old Bay. Avoid breaking up the crab meat too much while stirring.
How Long to Cook Air Fryer Crab Cakes
Once the mixture is formed into patties, they will need to chill for about 30 minutes before cooking.
Cooking crab cakes in the air fryer only takes 10 minutes! Flip the cakes halfway through cooking time. Be careful with the flip because the cakes are still fragile at that point and may fall apart easily.
