Easy Honey Balsamic Chicken Recipe (Grill and Air Fryer Grill Instructions)
Easy Honey Balsamic Chicken Recipe!
Here’s another easy and delicious recipe for you! Woohoo! This honey balsamic chicken recipe is seriously a keeper! The prep is easy and quick. It doesn’t need to marinate for long and the best part is that everyone in the family loved it! Oh, hey, and it’s pretty healthy too.
Honey Balsamic Chicken Spice Rub
The simple spice rub is wonderful with the honey balsamic sauce – it adds a nice, well-rounded flavor to the chicken.
I like to pat the chicken dry a bit with a paper towel before adding it to the bag, just to help the seasonings and all that stick to the chicken a little better.
Honey Balsamic Chicken Marinade
The balsamic vinegar in this marinade adds some tang, but it isn’t overwhelming. The honey and ketchup balance it out nicely!
I love that it works so well with this recipe to reserve some of this honey balsamic glaze for serving. The additional sauce really makes this chicken delicious and quite pleasing to the eye.
Grilling the Honey Balsamic Chicken
I have a thing for grilled kebabs! I always seem to choose a kebab style over the larger pieces of chicken when it comes to the grill. These are probably the main reasons why:
- Bite-size and easy-to-serve pieces
- Plenty of marinade or sauce on each bite
- Quick cooking time; and
- They are just more fun.
If you’re a big fan of kebabs as well, you might also like this Balsamic Beef Kebabs recipe! So good!
These are my favorite skewers!
Instructions If Not Doing Kebabs
You do not have to make these as kebabs, you can marinate in the honey balsamic glaze and cook the whole chicken breasts if you want.
In that case, start with the cooking time of 3-4 minutes per side and cook until done (no longer pink and center is opaque), or until it reaches 160 degrees. Your cooking time may vary a bit depending on the size of the chicken breast.
How to Grill Chicken in the Air Fryer
Since getting my air fryer, I have discovered many new ways to make food in the air fryer, especially chicken. One of my new favorite ways is to actually GRILL chicken in the AIR FRYER. Yes, you read that right. Thanks to this amazing grill grate, you don’t even have to go outside to make juicy, charred, and delicious chicken!
Air Fryer Instructions
I made the chicken using two whole breasts. Prepare the chicken by making and applying the rub. Then marinate the chicken with the glaze for 2 hours before grilling. Once ready to cook the chicken, place the grill grate in the air fryer basket and preheat the air fryer at 400°F/200°C for 5 minutes.
Place the chicken on the grill grate. Cook at 380°F/190°C for 12 minutes. At the halfway point, flip the chicken and add remaining glaze.
Make sure the chicken registers at 165°F/74°C before enjoying!
It’s that easy! This chicken is easy, juicy, and tastes like it is fresh off the grill. We love eating this recipe as is or with a tasty green salad.

Just tried this with some very large chicken breasts in the air fryer. They cooked about 25 minutes (I hadn’t pounded them flat), and I just cooked on the regular insert that came with the fryer. They were absolutely fabulous! Definitely a keeper.
YES! Soooo good! So glad you enjoyed these! Thanks for the review, Dorothy!
