Air Fryer Margherita Pizza
Easy way to cook pizza in the air fryer!
This is a super easy, super quick way to make a delicious pizza in the air fryer! Almost as easy as the Air Fryer Pizza Bagels. The premade crust and simple toppings are definitely part of what make it so easy. Depending on the crust you choose to use, you could easily make this gluten-free or low carb too. Another reason why this recipe is so easy is because of the air fryer!
I love my air fryer. It cooks things well and quickly, without heating up the kitchen. (I have the Philips XXL Air Fryer.) It has been a lot of fun to experiment and try some of our favorite foods in it! We share our favorite air fryer recipes here.
What is Margherita pizza?
Margherita pizza is a simple pizza made with quality tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil.
Traditionally, it is served with a drizzle of olive oil right before serving. Imagine if you use a garlic-infused olive oil. Mmm. Margherita pizza is usually served on a thin crust in small slices.
What tomatoes do I use?
For this recipe, I recommend using campari tomatoes because of their size. Since the air fryer cannot hold a large crust, smaller sized tomatoes and mozzarella are best.
Adding the Basil
Be sure to add the basil after the pizza has cooked and right before serving. If you add it before cooking it in the air fryer, it will bake, wilt and turn brown. Fresh basil is a must on Margherita pizza!
Make it in the oven
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can still make this recipe in the oven. Follow the directions to assemble the pizza then bake it at 350 degrees F for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sides of the crust begin to brown.
Storing Air Fryer Margherita Pizza
If you have leftovers or make a few batches, you can store your pizza in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. I highly recommend pulling off the basil and adding fresh basil after you warm it up. It will taste like a fresh pizza!
And, of course, I would use the air fryer to reheat it. One of my favorites ways to reheat leftover pizza is in the air fryer!
