Top 5 Grocery Rebate Apps (Save $100s on Groceries)
The Best Cash Back Apps for Groceries
In today’s day and age, prices keep rising and every day I am looking for more and more ways to save money! There’s a lot of hype recently around different grocery rebate apps and how they can save you a lot of money, so I decided to test a handful of them myself!
After using these apps for a while, I’ve discovered I’m able to save anywhere from $20-$150 EACH TRIP to the grocery store by using these different grocery cash back apps!! If you want to learn how to do the same, keep on reading!
Warning: using these apps will take a little bit of time and preparation. I’d say that one big trip to the grocery store will take around 20-45 minutes of preparation. That may seem like a long time, but I’d say that the savings are WORTH it!
1. Saving Star
SavingStar is an app that will allow you to save big at over 100 retail chain stores! All you have to do is click on the store you want to shop at and find the offers you want to use! You just need to click “Activate” on as many offers as you want! You can use all the offers in one purchase or in multiple, whatever works for you!
To receive the discount, you have two options:
- If you have a loyalty rewards card at that particular store (ex: CVS Extra Card Card), all you need to do is swipe your card!
- If you do not have a card at store you are shopping at, all you need to do is save your receipt and scan it right on the app.
Using either of the methods above, your savings will be applied between 2-14 days and once you get up to $20 in savings, you can cash out!
The awesome thing about SavingStar is that they give you a ton of options for cashouts! You can deposit it straight into your bank account or PayPal, or you can donate your savings to charity.
2. Ibotta
Ibotta is AWESOME! I have been using it for years and it’s one of the most popular grocery cash back apps out there. There are over 300 stores that support Ibotta savings and new offers are added weekly so there’s never a shortage of savings!
What’s really awesome about Ibotta is they offer more than one way to save. In fact, they have three different ways:
1. Submit a Receipt
Just like with Saving Star, all you need to do is get on the app, complete simple tasks to unlock rebates, head to a participating store, make your purchases, and then take a picture of your receipt and scan the product bar code using the App! BUT read #2…. because if this works for you, you don’t even have to submit a receipt…
2. Link a Loyalty Account
All you need to do for this one is sign up for Ibotta and for each store you plan on purchasing from, link your card or phone number for that store! For example, all you need to do is put in your phone number linked to your Rite Aid Wellness Card on the app prior to your purchase and once you have unlocked the rebates and gone shopping, the savings will be automatically deposited into your account within 48 hours. Easy as that!
3. In-App Purchases
This one is a lot like Ebates! All you need to do is head on over to the app, find the discount you would like to use (for example: 5% Cash Back on Groupon), and then click the button that says “Launch App”. From there, you will be taken to the Groupon website and you can make your purchase just like normal! In a short while, you will receive an email saying your rebate is pending and will soon get the money!
Ibotta is well worth it! It’s super easy and the savings are AWESOME!
3. Checkout 51
Checkout 51 is SUPER simple! There are no questions to be asked here, it is one of the easiest grocery rebate apps to use!
So FIRST, download the app! Then, every Thursday, they will post a new list of offers. All you have to do is pick which ones you would like to purchase, go to any store and make your purchases, and then simply upload the receipt. When your savings gets to $20, they will mail you a check in the mail! Easy as pie!
The cool part about this one is that you won’t have to be running around to different stores to get different discounts. Just go to a place that has the brands you need, and ta-da! You have savings coming your way!!
4. Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards is a lot like Checkout 51! All you have to do is download the app, look at the list of offers, pick which ones you want, then head to any grocery store! You can shop wherever with this app.
Once you are done, submit your receipt and you’ll get points that you can redeem for a variety of different gift cards.
Another way to earn points with Fetch Rewards is through special offers. These are really cool because you don’t even have to activate them! If a special offer is available and you purchase the participating product, you’ll automatically earn points.
5. ReceiptPal
ReceiptPal is very similar to the other receipt scanning apps on this list, with one neat difference: besides just scanning receipts for points, you can also simply attach your email address or Amazon account to earn points automatically! Once you earn enough points, you can redeem them for gift cards and cash prizes.
Another cool thing ReceiptPal is that they have weekly sweepstakes. Just being a member means you have the chance of winning cash prizes every week!
Final Thoughts
I realize that using these cashback apps will take up a chunk of your time but seriously, THIS IS SO WORTH IT! I invite all of you to try these out. They are all free to use and even if you end up not liking them, there’s no harm in giving them a shot! Download them and let us know what you think!
Have you used any of the cashback apps above before? Or a similar app? Did you find the savings worth it? Let us know!
