Creamy Baked Green Beans
I don’t know about you but when the holiday rolls around my oven is always jam-packed and overworked. That is when I discovered that this delicious creamy baked green bean casserole can be made wonderfully in the air fryer.
Not only can you make this dish in the air fryer, but it does a wonderful job crisping up the fried onions to perfection. And the air fryer actually cuts down on the amount of time it takes to make the green bean casserole because there is no need to preheat the oven ahead of time.

What Type of Dish to Use in the Air Fryer
You might be wondering what types of dishes and such you can use in the air fryer. A good rule of thumb is that if you can use it in the oven, then you can most likely use it in the air fryer.
For this recipe I like to use either a cake pan or even an 8×8 glass dish will work great. You can also use an air fryer silicone pot too if you have one.
Can Green Bean Casserole be Reheated?
If you have leftovers of your baked green bean casserole then you can always pop it back in the air fryer at 350F or 175C for about 6-8 minutes to reheat the dish all the way through.
I would always suggest using the air fryer for this to avoid the fried onions from getting soggy in the microwave.
Do I Need to Use Cream of Mushroom Soup?
I have always made this dish with cream of mushroom soup and it turns out great! But, if you happen to not like cream of mushroom soup or do not have it, you can substitute it with another condensed soup like cream of chicken or cream of celery.
Just know that if you do use something else the flavor will be a bit different than the original. Or you can also make homemade cream of mushroom soup too with Culinary Hill’s condensed cream of mushroom homemade soup recipe.
How to Make Creamy Baked Green Beans:
Step 1: Create the Base
When you are ready to make your creamy baked beans recipe, start by mixing together the cream of mushroom soup together with the milk and soy sauce in a large mixing bowl.
Then add in the green beans and mix them until they are completely covered in the soup mixture.
Step 2: Finish Mixing the Casserole Mixture
After the green beans are covered in the mushroom soup, add in ⅔ cup of the fried onions and then pour it into the oven-safe dish to use in the air fryer.
Step 3: Bake the Creamy Baked Beans
Now, place the bean-filled dish into the air fryer basket and place it inside the air fryer.
Turn the air fryer on to 350F or 175C and let the casserole cook for 8 minutes.
When the time is up open up the air fryer and sprinkle on the remaining onions and let the beans cook for another 2 minutes.
When the timer is up, carefully remove the dish from the air fryer basket and serve your baked beans and enjoy!

Final Thoughts
I know you might be wondering now after seeing all of these air fryer recipes, is there something the air fryer CANNOT do? While I am sure there are things that should not be done, however, this creamy baked green beans recipe is not one of them.
In fact, I think I prefer making this recipe in the air fryer over making it in the oven. Granted, if you need to make it for a large group of people, I might be simpler to do in the oven. But, if not, then making it in the air fryer is the way to go.
