Best Green Smoothie Recipe Ever (Healthy & Tasty)
How to Make a Green Smoothie That Tastes Good
I have tried a few other green smoothies that actually tasted better than expected, but they still didn’t taste great. If you know me, you know I’m not a real big fan of salad, so drinking something that kinda tastes like a salad just isn’t something I can stick with.
However, I still like the idea of a shake for breakfast that sneaks in a veggie! It took a bit of searching and testing, but I’m so happy I found this one green smoothie recipe that I actually LIKE! Introducing the Green Monster Smoothie…
Bulk Buying & Freezing Tips
When you find a good price on bananas, go ahead and buy more than one bunch. Then peel, slice, and freeze them once they’re ripe!
Also, buy a big bag of spinach and if it starts getting old, portion it and freeze it too! Freezing the spinach in one-serving portions makes it super easy to just dump it in the blender. I love my freezer! 😉
If you want to make this healthy green smoothie recipe even easier, you can portion and freeze all of the smoothie ingredients, except the milk. Then just pull a bag of ingredients out of the freezer, dump it in the blender, and add milk.
Note that with all of the ingredients frozen, the blender might struggle if it isn’t a high power one. A Vitamix or Blendtec can handle it though!
Best Green Smoothie Recipe Ever!
This green monster smoothie doesn’t taste like the spinach at all! It reminds me of a vanilla shake, with a touch of banana and peanut butter flavor. Also, when I have for breakfast, it easily keeps me full until lunch. No morning snack needed!
So, if you’re looking for an easy way to fill yourself up with nutrients in the morning, making this healthy green smoothie recipe is the way to go. Also, if you have picky eaters in your house you can try giving this to them as well! Just don’t tell them there’s spinach in it. 😉

Recipe Notes
Try using different greens, adding 1 cup berries or fruit, protein powder, flax, chia, or whatever your heart desires!
Looks like a great recipe. Just curious, have you ever tried it with a non-Greek yogurt or a soy/almond/coconut yogurt?
I have not tried it with a soy/almond/coconut yogurt before, but I’m guessing it would be great. If it is more runny than Greek, you can adjust the milk or yogurt amounts to keep the shake at the consistency that you desire. I always choose Greek over non-Greek when possible because of the added protein and no artificial sweeteners.
I’m a green smoothie fan! I will try this one, thanks!! And just and idea… I LOVE pineapple and coconut, so my favorite green smoothie is frozen pineapple, coconut milk and a few handfuls of spinach. Tastes like a dessert!!
Thanks for sharing!
I’ve made yogurt cheese by draining plain yogurt (no sweetener or flavoring) such as Dannon overnight. Some say don’t drain it as long for Greek yogurt, maybe 2-3 hours.
Is it a 1/2 cup of the greek yogurt?
Oops. Yes, it is. I’ll fix that in the recipe right now!
What is the calorie count on this?
I don’t know. It would vary depending on the yogurt, peanut butter, and milk that you use. You can try using a calorie counter for specific recipes, like the ones here: https://bit.ly/Zr4Wkg
