Caramel Apple Snickers Salad Recipe

This recipe has been one of our most popular recipes on pinterest since Melanie shared it with us last year. I thought with apples being in season and on sale you might enjoy this fabulous blast from the past!

Many of us have either tasted this or even brought it to a gathering, right? If you haven’t, you need to find a reason to whip some up asap. I was asked to bring something to the neighborhood BBQ and my mind was racing with all of the delicious possibilities. But I noticed that this recipe hasn’t been shared on our blog yet, and it is a PERFECT summer potluck dish! Very simple and yummy, and definitely more of a dessert than a salad. Wonderful option if you’re looking for a no-bake dessert! Hmm…it appears that my favorite salads involve vanilla pudding. (My favorite fruit salad)

Chop up all of those yummy Snickers and tart apples. Try not to eat too many of them. To spread out the Snicker-y goodness, you might want to cut them into even smaller pieces than I did in the picture. Just keep the pieces on the cutting board for easy dumping later.  My kids loved it that I kept slipping them little pieces of the apples, and I gave them a little piece of the candy bar too. ;)

Whisk together the thawed whipped topping, the milk, and the dry pudding mix in a large bowl. I have only tried it with vanilla pudding mix, but I bet it would be awesome with cheesecake flavor!

Then fold in the chopped apples and Snickers candy bar pieces. Let it chill for at least an hour.

It fit perfectly into an 8×8 glass dish, but you can leave it in the bowl or any similar sized serving dish. Then drizzle some caramel topping sauce over the top. You want to distinguish it from the potato salads, right? ;)

Instructions

  1. Whisk vanilla pudding packet, 1/2 cup milk and whipped topping together until well combined. Chop up the apples and Snickers into bite size pieces. Fold the chopped apples and Snickers into the pudding mixture. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
  2. Drizzle with caramel sauce. Enjoy!

  1. This was good but too runny. Was it suppose to be instant vanilla pudding? Or maybe the milk could be omitted.

    • I use the 5-oz box of dry instant pudding mix and only add the 1/2 cup of milk. It turns out pretty thick, as in the pictures. I wonder what the difference was…Was your whipped topping runny? Did you use the 5-oz size of the pudding mix?

  2. Do you think this could be made the night before or would the apples get brown?

    • I think that it would work out, but I haven’t tried it myself. Since the apples are pretty well coated, I don’t they will turn brown. I wonder if they wouldn’t be quite as crisp though.

  3. Just popped this into the fridge. I accidently bought milky ways instead of snickers, but I tasted it and it was great. The only thing is I need to add a few more to balance out the apples (amount wise). They’ll be having this tomorrow, and I had to make it tonight because I have to work. It looks great and tastes great.

  4. I just checked it and the parts of the apple that were not covered in the whipped topping mix were a bit brown, very tiny spots, but the taste wasn’t different at all. It tastes great. That said, I’m going to add some more milky ways or some snickers(as the recipe calls for). It’s definitely sweet!

  5. I made these for a super bowl party last month and they were a hit! I saw the cheesecake pudding mix at the grocery store and used that instead…it was a success!!

  6. How many people does this recipe serve?

      The recipe as written makes enough to fill an 8×8 dish, so I would guess you could serve anywhere from 6-9 people with it.

    Would using apples that were frozen make it soggy and less tasty?

      I have no experience with frozen apples, so I’m not sure. But if the texture of the apples usually becomes soggy when thawed from frozen, my guess is that you’d be right.

  8. Any suggestions for turning this into a bite sized treat?
