Yonanas Review:

Are you a big fan of ice cream but not the fat, sugar and preservatives that come along with it? If so, you’ll definitely want to check out my review of this one-task wonder appliance… the Yonanas machine!

Yonanas Product Review 1

Yonanas turns frozen fruit into a delicious, healthy soft-serve treat! It combines frozen bananas and other fruits or chocolate and instantly churns the ingredients to produce a treat with the texture of frozen yogurt or soft-serve ice cream. My family and I have made Yonanas on several occations now, having fun each time experimenting with new fruits and recipes. My absolute favorite part, my kids love it AND it’s healthy for them!

Other features I love:

  • It comes already assembled in the box
  • It’s dishwasher safe
  • It’s super easy to clean
  • There is just one button; On & Off
  • It isn’t large, heavy or bulky
  • Set up takes seconds and you have a treat in just minutes
  • Includes instructions and a booklet of yummy recipes

How It Works:

Prep the fruit: Purchase, peel and freeze over-ripe bananas at least 24 hours before use. I like to cut mine in half and freeze them in food saver bags. You can also use other frozen fruits such as mangos, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, watermelon, cantaloupe and lots more!

Make the Yonanas: Thaw the frozen fruit approximately 7-10 minutes just before use. The Yonanas maker consists of two pieces: the motor base and the chute assembly. After making sure they are properly locked together in place, just insert frozen fruit into the chute and push the fruit down using the plunger.  Simply alternate between pieces of bananas and another fruit when pushing fruit through the chute to help blend the yonanas together. This gives it a nice ice cream like consistency. My kids love helping with this part! They drop the fruit in and I push it down while they watch it “magically” come out the bottom in just seconds! Finally, remove the chute piece from the yonanas maker base, unscrew the cone and scrape out any extra yonanas that might be in there.

We’ve tried a few of the recipes in the included booklet like mixed berry, tropical sorbet and strawberry, they’re all super yummy! Don’t like bananas? They’re not required! Our personal favorite lately is just plain frozen peaches. Luckily, I happen to have a freezer full so it’s nice to have a fun way to use them up!

Feel like entertaining? They’ve got some really awesome recipes to make pies, parfaits, and strawberry pistachio terrine. The next recipe on my list to try is the PB & J with waffle! YUM!

Top the Yonanas: After we get the Yonanas made up, we like to add a few toppings such as whipped cream, chocolate chips, sprinkles, chopped frozen fruit, or a drizzle of caramel sauce but this is totally optional! Yonanas is definitely delicious plain, my kids just seem to think sprinkles make everything better! I personally like to mix in a little stevia but the hubs just likes it plain.

Clean the Yonanas: This part is a piece of cake! Simply separate all the parts in the chute assembly and clean them in soapy water or the dishwasher. Make sure all the parts are completely dry before reassembling. It really only takes me a couple of minutes!

Enjoy the Yonanas: MMMmmm…. delish!

Review Conclusion:

I love the Yonanas machine! In fact, I’ve already purchased 3 for Christmas gifts! (Shhhh!) If I HAD to come up with a con, I would say the noise maybe? It’s a bit loud when it’s turned on, but luckily you don’t have to have it on for very long SO… in my opinion, it’s really not a big deal. Overall, I’m very happy with the product and would definitely recommend it to friends, family and all of you! 🙂

Now on to the fun part….
