Delicious Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef

This Mongolian Beef recipe is a perfect one to freeze and then throw in the crock-pot another day. So convenient and the taste is amazing! You will definitely want seconds. It is a beef freezer meal that the whole family can enjoy!

With freezer meals, it is easy and time efficient to make more than one meal at a time. If possible, double the recipe or more. Serve Mongolian Beef for dinner that day and prepare the rest for the freezer!

How to Store Your Mongolian Beef Freezer Meal:

  1. Combine the ingredients for the sauce and put it in a Ziploc bag, quart size.
  2. Add the cornstarch-coated raw steak pieces to a separate freezer bag, gallon size.
  3. Remove excess air from bags, seal, and freeze.

Oh, don’t forget to label the bags and keep them together so you know what they are. You can then thaw it all later and cook it in your slow cooker! So easy.

Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef (Freezer Meal)

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Cook Time: 2-5 hours
Yield: 6 - 4 oz Entrees | Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds flank steak, sliced across grain into strips
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 3 medium green onions, chopped (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Coat flank steak pieces in cornstarch, by either tossing in a bowl or in a bag. If possible, let meat sit after coating in cornstarch for 10-30 minutes.
  2. Heat large skillet to medium-high heat and brown the meat, if desired. Then add the meat to the slow cooker.
  3. Mix together the sauce ingredients - ginger, garlic, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and carrots. Then pour sauce over meat in the slow cooker.
  4. Cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 4-5 hours.
  5. Serve over cooked rice or noodles and garnish with green onion, if desired.
  6. Freezer Meal Instructions:

  7. Coat flank steak pieces in cornstarch and place in a gallon freezer bag, remove excess air, and seal bag.
  8. Mix sauce ingredients together and place in a quart bag. Keep the two bags together, label, and freeze.
  9. To serve: Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Brown meat in skillet, if desired. Then cook meat and sauce in slow cooker on high for 2-3 hours or low for 4-5 hours.
