Super quick and easy cobbler that is fabulous serverd warm over vanilla ice cream with a surprise ingredient for Mt. Dew fans…even if you are not a fan of Mt. Dew you would never know this is the secret ingredient!

Mountain Apple Cobbler REcipe

At first I thought this recipe was kind of funny but my husband is a big Mt. Dew fan so I thought it would be a novelty to try.  It was actually really good and you would never guess the secret ingredient was Mt. Dew!   I did change this recipe up a little bit, normally you would roll each apple slice up in a triangle of the crescent roll dough, then slather on the butter and brown sugar mixture and top it all off pouring the Mt. Dew around the edge of the pan.   I am a HUGE fan of more apples and less breading so I added more apples to the mix and put the entire crescent roll dough on the top.  I added 1/2 to 3/4 of the brown sugar mixture to the apples and the rest on the top (spreading evenly over the top)  Then poured the Mt. Dew around the edges and some in the small perforated holes of the crescent dough.  It turned out fantastic with a great rich flavor that was divine served warm with vanilla ice cream!

Mountain Apple Cobbler Recipe

Yield: 1 9x13 pan | Serves: 25 servings

Ingredients

  • 8 granny smith green apples
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 cans of crescent rolls
  • 1 cup of mountain dew
  • 2 tablespoons Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. First peel the apples then cut the apples into 8 slices.
  2. Next sprinkle cinnamon on all of the apples and line the bottom of a 13X9 glass baking dish.
  3. Then in a small pot bring the butter, cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar to a boil.
  4. Then pour 3/4 of it over the apples (reserve some to poor on top of the crescent rolls).
  5. Unroll the crescent roll dough and place on top of the mixture of apples and sugar mix. (make sure and cover all of it).
  6. Finally pour the mountain dew around the edges of the pan and through the perforated triangular holes of the crescent roll dough.
  7. Place in the oven for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
  8. Tastes great served hot with vanilla bean ice cream!
