Air Fryer Hand Pies
Air fryer hand pies are perfect little treats that you and your family can enjoy for Thanksgiving this year because they are customizable and adorable. Today, I am sharing a few different ways that you can make and enjoy hand pies in the air fryer.
How to Make Hand Pies in the Air Fryer
I love this recipe because it is so simple to make. You will need two 9” pie crusts. Then, you can cut them into 7, 3.5″ circles for each sheet.
Then you will place about 1-2 tablespoons of pie filling in each pie crust circle. Seal the top and bottom crusts together with water and then close shut w/ a fork. Spread an egg wash over the top. Air fry at 350F/176C for 6-8 minutes.
It is that simple to make hand pies!
Easy Homemade Apple Pie Filling
Enjoy this delicious and easy homemade apple pie filling to enjoy in your hand pies! You will need:
- 16 ounces (453 g) fresh or frozen fruit (apples, peaches, blueberries, strawberries etc)
- 2 Tablespoons lemon juice, more or less to your taste
- 6 ounces (170 g) water or juice that complements the flavor of the fruit
- 1 ounce (28 g) unsalted butter
- 2 ounces (57 g) sugar white or brown
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 ounce (28 g) ClearGel or 1/2 ounce cornstarch
- 1 ounce (28 g) water
To make homemade apple pie filling:
- Prepare your apples by chopping into small cubes (if needed) or use frozen fruit. No need to defrost.
- Place your fruit and butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat until the butter is melted and bubbling.
- Add in your water (or juice), sugar, lemon juice, and salt and mix until combined. Bring to a simmer.
- Combine your ClearGel with your water and whisk to make a slurry. Pour into your simmering mixture and mix for 1-2 minutes to cook the gel. If you’re using cornstarch, you only need to cook until it’s clear.
- Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool. When ready, place about 1-2 tbsps of pie filling in each pie crust circle. Seal the top and bottom crusts together with water and then close shut w/ a fork. Spread an egg wash over the top. Air fry at 350F/176C for 6-8 minutes.

S’mores Hand Pies
To make s’mores hand pies, you will need:
- 2 Hershey’s chocolate bars
- Mini marshmallows
- Crushed graham cracker
Assemble the hand pies by placing three small Hershey’s chocolate bar squares on each circle. Add 6 mini marshmallows on top of the chocolate on each pie. Seal the top and bottom crusts together with water and then close shut w/ a fork. Spread an egg wash over the top and then some crushed graham cracker if desired. Air fry at 350F/176C for 6-8 minutes.
Peach Hand Pies
To make peach hand pies, you will need:
- 1 can (21 oz) peach pie filling
- Cinnamon to taste (if using an entire can about 1 tsp cinnamon)
- Glaze: 2.5 cups powdered sugar & 1/4 cup milk
This recipe is so simple, the best part is that you can exchange the peach pie filling with any premade filling of your choice!
- Mix together peach pie filling with cinnamon in a bowl. Make sure that the peaches are in bite-sized cubes or smaller.
- Place about 1-2 tablespoons of pie filling in each pie crust circle. Seal the top and bottom crusts together with water and then close shut w/ a fork. Spread an egg wash over the top. Air fry at 350F/176C for 6-8 minutes.
- Beat together glaze ingredients while cooking. Remove hand pies from the air fryer basket and drop into the glaze while warm. Cover completely. Place on parchment paper and allow to cool for at least 5 minutes.
Tasty Lemon Hand Pies
This lemon hand pie filling is so simple and fresh! Perfect for your lemon custard lovers!
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 lemon zested
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup melted butter
To make this lemon custard hand pie:
- In a bowl, combine sugar and eggs. Whisk in lemon zest and lemon juice. Stir in melted butter. Microwave lemon mixture for 1-minute stir. Continue to heat lemon mixture in 1-minute intervals until mixture begins to thicken and easily coats the back of a spoon. Refrigerate to set.
- Place about 1-2 tbsps of pie filling in each pie crust circle. Seal the top and bottom crusts together with water and then close shut w/ a fork. Spread an egg wash over the top. Air fry at 350F/176C for 6-8 minutes.
